It doesn't show up really well, but there is a big difference in the redness between the treated and untreated incision lines.

As soon as the stitches came off (about 2 weeks), I started using these advanced healing gel sheets called tough pads. They are by Johnson and Johnson and are also called "hydrocolloid adhesive pads"

It is like a band-aid but without the gauze and it forms this squishy area over the wound as it absorbs the fluid. I really liked it and started using it right after my stitches came out because I read that it was suppose to prevent the formation of scars. You get 4 in a pack and it cost like 6$ at BiLO. At around week 4, all the scabs and stuff had healed. That is when I started using Mederma and silicone scar sheets from Biodermis. After I shower, I put the mederma on and let it dry and then put the sheets back on.

 Hey there,
Can I ask, when did you start using the Mederma on the arm? My surgeon told me to wait until tomorrow, which will be almost 3 weeks post op. I actually bought Scar Guard because it was a great deal at Walgreens. I have incisions everywhere, but my arms are the ones I want to lighten the most. So you are lucky!!!

Thank you for posting this.  Although, your thigh scar looks very good, how well your arm scar looks is incredible!

When did you start using the mederma and silicone sheets?

Both scars are healing very well but clearly the arm scar is very faint - you can barely see it in your picture which is great.

I wonder if the difference is related to the location on the body and not to the mederma and scar sheets? The legs must place a lot more pressure on the scar. If you have done a small section in the middle of the leg scar and then compared treated leg scar versus untreated leg scar then we could truly know if it made a difference.

I'm guessing mederma and scar sheets are expensive so you're only doing your arms?

You make a good point.  My surgeon told me that different parts of the body will scar differently depending on the elasticity, tension, and location of the scar.  He said that even the same incision can heal differently from one end to the other.  Also the scars go through different healing phases and they look better in the beginning and then darken slightly before they truly begin to fade.   I know that is what happened with some of my scars.  Some areas started fading before others.

Either way, her scars do look great.
