Hey guys,

I am having my surgery Tuesday.  Does anyone have any advice?

I have my pillows, stool softners,  my favorite foods, dvds, and tv shows.  I am also staying with my family while I recovery.  My surgery as out patient since I have already had a tummy tuck.  I have my short term disability work ready to fax in tomorrow afternoon after I leave work.  I am leaving work at 2:00 and then talking with anesthesia.

My surgery is at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.  I should be home by 6 p.m.  My surgeon's office is only 20 minutes away in case I have any problems.  My prescriptions will be there at my surgeons office on Tuesday.

Please any advice would be greatly appreciative.  I am really nervous this time.  I don't know why but I am.

Thanks for all the help and prayers.

How about a toilet riser to make it higher.  that was the hardest thing after the thigh lift was trying to sit on the toilet.

Jasmine ,
GOOD LUCK first of all ,,,Secondly , I have been through several procedures and for the thigh , MY BEST ADVICE is to either but that female urinal that allows you to pee while standing as your compression garment will have the crotch out of it or use a tall plastic cup to be honest ..  You know , the ones like you get an xtra large drink in at the drive though that is that heavier plastic and rinse each time you use and reuse it ..
I know it may sound barbaric but you will learn to do whatever it takes to get through this.  I bought the female urinal but the cup is MUCH easier ..
If your Dr doesn't use compression but i bet he will, you use the cup either way.  getting on and on the toilet is a PAIN and i do mean that .
One other touchy subject is constipation ,,,  START NOW using the Miralax , one cap full each night and do it everyday until you have easy bowel movements.  Back off if they get to louse. Pain pills are going to cause major issues if you dont.   I found this work bests for me but you may have something else that works for you ,,IF NOT give Miralax a try ,,,best thing i have found as it doesn't make you go bit makes it so you done have constipation when you do go.
Have a safe blessed recovery and prayers going up for you

I second Shirl on the urine funnel. I got one called a ""Freshette" I bought it at REI (an outdoor/camping type store). I was SO glad to have it after surgery! I also agree with the toilet riser, it makes things a lot easier on you. I will be praying for you. Take care and God bless!

Toilet riser!  I didn't need one with the LBL but with the thigh lift - I can't even imagine coming home and not having one.  I'm two weeks out now and can manage without one.  DH found one at a discount drug store that sells durable medical supplies for under $30.  It's a very basic plastic ring that has a rise of 5 inches.  It fit fine, but for extra ease, we took the toilet seat off.  Technically didn't have to though.

Of course keep a notebook with you to keep note of when you take meds, phone conversations, etc.  (It's really fun once you're off pain meds to go back and look at your notes).

Also, the hospital that I went to (I had an overnight stay) instead of having those flimsy pitchers and cups, used big 32 oz mugs for water - I used mine at home.  Since it was marked in ml and oz, I was able to make sure that I was drinking enough water to help with the constipation and just general hydration.

Good luck!
