Wherever you're going to be resting during the first few days of your recovery - your bed, recliner, etc... have all that set up before Monday.  If you haven't already, contact your ps to get any scrips for meds today so that you can get them filled before surgery.  This way, when you get home, they're already there.

Once you're home, keep a notebook with you at all times.  I was given three different scrips with different times to take them.  I kept a list of each med and the time I took it.  Any calls that I made or received, I kept notes on the calls - related to surgery or not (when you're on pain meds, keeping notes will help you keep things straight.

Good luck!

Lisa.....
    Thank you!
I called my surgeon about the scripts, and they will not do that...... go figure!
I did the exact same thing with the notebook after my RNY when I was still on the pain meds! It was a lifesaver! Of course, not all my notes were legible! LOL

Have lots of pillows and stool softeners. Make sure you have high protein/low sodium things to eat. Best to you! God bless.

Sure! I had cooked and froze all of my food prior to surgery to insure that it was high protein and low in sodium. I grilled a BUNCH of chicken, made a huge pot of pinto beans with chicken in it and a pot of lentils with veggies and chicken, turkey breast burgers, had lots of frozen tilapia fish ready for my husband to throw in the oven (seasoned with, dill, paprika, pepper and lemon). I also had lots of egg whites, greek yogurt and frozen fruit to make protein shakes. I love almond butter. It's like peanut butter but without the salt. I eat it just like peanut butter. It is high in protein and sodium free. I use garlic powder, pepper, paprika and Mrs. Dash to season a lot of the things I cook. It makes up for the missing salt.  I also use balsamic vinegar and olive oil for my salad dressing instead of pre-made ones that have lots of sodium. Hope this helps :)
I added you as friend too.

I had a 1/4 cup of prune juice followed by a 1/4 cup protien shake chaser with each of my pain meds to keep me regular and coat my stomach. I kept my shake next to me for late night med time so I didn't have to get up.

Get Glycerin suppositories. The effect is almost immediate (15mins - 1hr till relief) if you get constipated.

As others said, set your sleeping arrangement up now. Try sleeping overnight on it to make sure you are comfortable and it holds it's reclined shape all night. Make sure you have something to put under your knees to keep them bent at night (a rolled up comforter worked well for me).

Ditto on the note pad for med schedule.

Practice rolling off the bed without using your stomach muscles. One foot off, then the other, now shoulder over and roll into a sitting position. (stay reclined till you are ready to sit/stand).

And as my after care nurse kept saying...easy....easy...easy. Don't pu****!

Praying for the best!
Rachel
