Hematomas
I had a vertical thigh lift seven weeks ago and have hematomas down my whole left leg..I recently developed a large one at the bottom of my incision on my right leg...My Surgeon said to continue massaging them and they will eventually disolve.Has anyone else had these and how long did it take for them to go away?

The ones on my left leg are all along the incision and run longways..like one continuous knot..the one on the right leg is larger than a golf ball...they do not hurt at all even when I massage them.I am still having alot of swelling during the day but it comes down at night. It just concerns me because I am not seeing any improvment.

Hi Sherry,
I had an arm lift six weeks ago and had a large knot in the left arm that was a hematoma I have never had any pain from it but it was about th size of a golf ball. I just massage it whenever i can and it has gotten smaller over the weeks and is now almost gone. As long as they arent soft and fluid filled (squishy) which could be a seroma ( i had one of those too in my abdomen) then i wouldnt worry too much about them just hang in there and as long as they dont hurt or get worse good luck in the rest of your recovery keep us posted....

I wonder if those are actually seromas, which would be collections of clear or golden fluid that can collect after surgery. In the legs, those tend to persist.
