Has anyone used BioOil? or Mederma? and had success in lessing the appearence of scars?

My doc recomended the Mederma, but my daughter was told that BioOil works wonders.

any thoughts on the subject?

I have a friend who used BioOil on her breast reduction scars (about 4 years ago) and swears by it.  Says she has almost no scars at all - barely visible unless you're really looking.  I haven't seen her boobs so I can't testify to that....lol

I know I'll probably use it - what the hell.  Can't make it worse and if it makes it better, great.  I've also heard vitamin E cream is good....

Where do you get the bio oil? I think its still too early for me to use things yet. Im only 1.5 weeks out. Still usng Neosporin... I do think alot of how you scar depends on your body but it wouldnt hurt to try! With my first breast lift I didnt use anything and my scars were almost invisible. My tummy scar is a little dark, I wish I had tried using something on it.

At my second follow up my ps gave me biocorneum.  It appears to be only available through a ps - so I'm lookiing for something as well once I"m out of the biocorneum.  My ps said I only had to use that for a couple of weeks.

I'm going to look into bio oil.

Thanks!  I'll look for it the next time I'm at the drug store.

My scar from my hysterectomy (vertical) faded pretty well on it's own; however, I knew I was going to have the plastic surgery so I didn't worry about it.  Now it's completey gone.  lol.  It's just replaced with a scar that goes all the way around me.
