Liposuction and WLS -- do they go together?
I won’t be much help here ether I had a pannectomy but no lipo. They removed 20 pounds of skin and I had no real problems with the surgery.

we had one lady that had the lipo before wls... and her experience was horrible!!! it looks like she's been "dimpled" in many different places. she showed us her legs, and they looked like she's been through a war. so, her suggestion is NEVER get lipo before or after WLS unless they do the whole area. her arms and legs looked mutilated due to the fact that they only did part of her extremities.
The second surgery (approximately a year later) I had an inner thigh lift and breast lift. My surgeion did do lipo on my legs. Although I do see much improvement on my legs I am not completely satisfied. The incision for the inner thigh lift was in my groin and not up the inside of my leg wich is probably why they are not as firm as I would like. However, weighing the options...hmmm let's see a scar up the leg or a little loose and in the groin.... Looking at that way, yes i perfer the way it was done.
Because of the lipo, while I was healing my inner legs were black and blue and extremly sensitive. This lasted 3 to 4 weeks which lessen over time. It will be a year in October '10 since this surgery and I have made a complete recovery.
I don't know anyone who's had lipo, but here's what I do know.
When I was researching Plastics (breast reduction & Tummy Tuck) some surgeons pushed lipo & others didn't. Some threw it in for free, others offered it at an extra cost & still others felt that it didn't really provide much benefit, but caused significant post surgical swelling & pain. In the end I did not have lipo done at the same time as my plastics. Do I regret that? Maybe. I kind of wish I'd had it at the side of my breasts & on my back. I hate my back fat & I wear a smoother every day! If I was to get more plastics done (a butt lift is looking good at this point) I think I would ask for those areas to be lipo-ed.

>>Any experience with lipo after major plastic surgery?
I don't know anyone who has had lipo...and I have no intention of getting that or plastic surgery done.
Although I've lost about 120 lbs, I don't have any real need to get plastics done (it would be nice, but there's no real NEED.) I have had enough surgeries in my life, and since I'm a real baby when it comes to pain, I figure I'm done. I hope that I never need any more surgery in the future for anything medical, and for sure, I don't intend to undergo any additional elective surgery.
I have my WLS when I was 54, and I'm "settled" with the success I've had. I see nothing wrong, at all, with getting plastic suregery done - it's just not for me.

Do you know anyone who had lipo before WLS?
- Yes I know a few who had lipo, however they also were not individuals who were or had WLS. They had a few extra pounds of "fat" they wanted to be rid of, therefore had lipo done.
Do you know anyone who had lipo after WLS but before more major plastic surgery?
- To date, none of the members in my group or anyone else I know has had lip after LS or before major plastic surgery. My opinion is that it would be a waste of time as in my mind would be much easier to have the procedures all done at the same time, providing the individual was in the proper health to undergo such a procedure.
Any experience with lipo after major plastic surgery?
- One of my group members just had plastics with major lipo and is too soon to make any assements, other than the surgery went well and she plans on having the rest of her body done in a few days. (We all wish her well btw!)
In summation it is my opinion that plastics, lipo and wls go hand in hand. While not everyone will take advantage of lipo or plastics.....it is wonderful to know the availability is there for those who want to complete their "WLS"!
