Liposuction and WLS -- do they go together?

Stephanie I had a Fleur de Lis tummy tuck last fall and lipo was never even brought up by my surgeon. I think lipo would bring the cost up quite a bit also.

No one in my group knew of anyone who has had liposuction done. The common consensus was NO they do not go together and most insurance would not pay for this because it would be cosmetic unlike weight loss surgery which is a tool to benefit a person's health.

I don't know anyone personally who had it (that I know of that is, hehe).

I'm just 6mos out from surgery now but I plan on having a consultation with a plastic surgeon after I've lost all the weight I'm planning to lose. Based on his/her recommendation, I would consider lipo in conjunction with plastics. I already have enough hanging skin, so I don't think I would do it without the plastic surgery to get rid of the excess skin.

I recently learned about one neighbour who had some lipo done. She is not happy with her results.

I don't know of anyone who had lipo before plastics. My plastic surgeon has never brought up lipo with me. So far I have had a fleur de lis tummy tuck, breast reduction and brachioplasty (arms) done. I would like to have some fat removed from my backside and have it injected as a filler into areas on my face.

I have no experience with lipo but have heard that the recovery is quite painful.

I have not had any lipo or body contouring yet but plan to have it done on my upper arms. My surgeon has a plastic surgeon in his office so this makes it really nice to have everything in one place. Once I have this done, I will definitely share my experiences.

The future belongs to those who give the next generation reason to hope.

I am sorry, I have no knowledge of anyone who has had this.

I have a few friends who have had plastics (excess skin) but not lipo.

I have not had any procedures yet! However I think it is a great idea to talk to your surgeon and follow what the professional knows best what you need.
