I had lipo on my knees prior to my inner thigh surgery but it didn't remove what I needed done and therefore I still need to have either more lip on them or surgery still.... Personally I see it working for some people but for me it wasn't worth having....

I am not at my goal weight yet, but do plan to have plastic surgery when I get there. If my surgeon recommends lipo, before/after or during the procedures (tummy tuck, breast lift, arm surgery) I will defer to his expertise. I know that the only way to get rid of the fat cells is to remove them. That being said, I am already ripply and lumpy so expecting a smooth, toned body after surgery for me is very unrealistic. I really just want to be fit, trim and tidy I guess.

Sorry , Can't be of much help with this one. I have not had any lipo and do not know any one who has. I'm not sure if it was done in conjuction with plasics in the the couple of people I know who have had lifts and tucks after WLS. I could use some help in the abdominal area and top of thighs, I plan on looking into this some time in2011 after I feel I have reached the weight I will maintain. Right now I'm working on losing that last 20-30#.
I don't know anyone who has had lipo but I would support any effort to try and address a weight issue. If someone pursues lipo as their first foray into correcitng their weight problem, so what? It often takes many of us a variety of diet attempts and failures to realize and accept that we have a weight problem that we are powerless to correct ourselves and need surgical help. If someone else tries lipo to fix their weight problem and ends up regaining the weight, maybe that will be their "light bulb moment" when they realize they may need a longer term solution.
It's not important how we get to a healthy weight and lifestyle. We just need to get there right? Sometimes we have to trip, fall or stray off the path toward our goals a few times. What's important is that we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and get back on course. If we learn what caused us to trip or go off course, even better.

Today I'm 1 wk 1 day out...I had extended tt, lift w/silicone and lipo of my bra roll and lower back. My doctor performed the lipo first, lift and tt last. I chose to have the lipo because he was able to sculpt a more hour glass figure as opposed to just pulling everthing down. As of right now, still 50% swollen, I'm super happy with what I see, I can only imagine what I will look like once the swelling is gone. the pain has been significant but as of today I'm only using tylenol as needed. My dr also used the quilting technique instead of all the drain tubes.....only downside I think is that it takes a bit longer for your body to absorb and get rid of the waste.

Hey There Erik,
I just had an Extended Tummy Tuck, Male Chest Reconstruction, Hernia Repair, and Pubic Lift 2 weeks ago and I thought I would chime in on Lipo.... I did not have a need for Lipo as I went from 60% body fat to 10% body fat. Lipo, in my opinion, is for people who have a disproportional body part that has not been remedied or improved with proper diet and excercise. I feel that prior to Plastic Surgery, wether it be Lipo, body lift etc, we should get to our goal weight or size, and maintain for at least 6 months in my opinion. I have heard that many people have used Lipo as a way to get that last bit of fat off their body. I think that if we work really hard at excercise and a good diet, the need for Lipo for the most part would go away. There are those that may have "Saddlebags" for example, and no excercise can make it proportional to the rest of their body... For those folks, Lipo is ideal... Just my two cents.
