Liposuction and WLS -- do they go together?

I don't have a personal experience with liposuction before or after WLS but this post got me thinking....

For me, I think I'd need much more than just liposuction. Lipo might suck out the extrra fat, but what about all the extra skin? I think I would need removal of the skin and then perhaps liposuction to tweek some things. I don't really think that lipo alone would do the trick for most of us post WLS.

Perhaps one area where lipo might help me is right under my chin, but even there, I think removal of the excess would be best...

The real question, I think, is....How do we get the insurance companies to PAY?! lol

 I don't know anyone who has had Lipo.
It always sounded great but seeing a video of how it is done scared me.

I have not had any personal experience with Liposuction. I have had several plastic surgery procedures with Dr. Bernard Shuster in Hollywood, FL. Other bari patients have told me they had some lipo in between other procedures. It does work in the hands of a skilled professional, however lipo is not for weight reduction. It is more a tool used for fine tuning or sculpting.

Weighing in on the Lipo thread.....  Having worked in the p.s. biz for a few years, I just want to say that lipo can do amazing things for "some".  It's a standard procedure used for "staging".  A high percentage of body lifts will have their thighs lipo'd at the same time to free the skin up so when a thighplasty is done in the future; the results will be tighter, better, smoother.

On the petite to average folks. Lipo can sculpt when a major surgery isn't necessarily needed.

I haven't had any personally but have seen hundreds of amazing results!  I'd definitely reocmmend it to someone if done with the right surgeon (check reviews when researching).

1.  Do you know anyone who had lipo before WLS? No
2.  Do you know anyone who had lipo after WLS but before more major plastic surgery? No
3.  Any experience with lipo after major plastic surgery? YES - I personally have had several episodes of lipo done... lipo to my abd and sides during my lower body lift... lipo to my upper abd for contouring after the LBL... and finally Lipo to my back (10lbs). ABD (again) during revision work... and inner thighs... I have to say that it is painful!  but the results were worth it! 
Lipo for weight loss... nope don't think so... the only way lipo should be used is as a 'fine tuning tool' but then again that's just my opinion.

I had a tummy tuck , panulectomy about 18 months after WLS.  I really wish that I had had lipo on my legs when I did the original surgery as I had to pay all and can't afford it now.  I think that is how I will finally believe that I am not still obese is if my poor legs weren't so disproportianate (sp).

Well I've know of plenty of people in the past that even if they lived a healthy lifestyle they still had problem areas they couldn't take care of unless they were to get lipo.  If it's an issue that is bothersome to someone and it makes them feel better to have it done I believe that's all that matters and it really isn't of anyone elses business.

I do not have any direct or indirect experience with liposuction.  Some other posts question whether it would be a good procedure since most WLS patients will also have a significant amount of excess skin.

Only one of my support group members has had plastic surgery.  She had a total body lift.  I believe she is pretty happy with the results and would probably do it again even with the significant healing time and pain during recovery.
