awww I am sorry you lost your belly button.

I hated mine and didnt want one after plastics, I had plans to have a smiley face tattooed where is should be. But my doctor insisted I have one and said he would make it nice.

So I guess we are in the same but opposite boat.

Yes I am now belly buttonless.....who cares? I am so much happier than chronic panniculitis and sagging past my genitals.

All time high...280 in summer of 2009. Approx. 276 when I first weighed in at Cleveland Clinic
Hugs to all in this cool group from Deborah. Hang in there on our healthy path.

Hi. I recently just had a panniculectomy too. (June 18th). I lost my belly button too. I can relate to your feelings of connection to your mom. My surgeon, however, told me that it was going to go. I had a mid journey panni (he removed 23 lbs of skin!!) and also had a hernia repair. He said it was a good idea that we decided not to keep it because of the hernia and how bad the stem was. I have heard about it being the slowest place to heal and also that they can actually take off more if the belly button's not kept.... So I am actually happy with my choice. Maybe in the future I'll get a tattoo or something, but I'm thinking for health, it was the best choice. Take care and I hope your recovery goes well!
