Pregnancy after TT
Some of you may remember me, some of you may not, but I used to post around here all the time...after a few life changing events my time online has GREATLY decreased and thus cut into my posting here unfortunatly! Anyway... I have a few questions for the experts...or at least the experienced I had my RNY a year ago in March followed by my TT in December. My husband and I have been considering going off birth control this fall and I want to know about some of the experiences you guys have had with pregnancy after TT...I don't want to totally ruin my awesome results and I don't ever want to go back to where I was before...but we don't feel like our family is complete. My surgeon assured me that having babies would be fine after my surgery but how would he know really? I can safely assume that HE has never personally carried a baby after TT. Also for thoes of you who have had C-sections after TT can they use the same scar? I had an anchor cut, and I've already had a baby by C-section but that was long before either of my other surgeries and they cut that scar off when I had my TT. I hope this isn't too confusing and I also plan to post it over in the Pregnancy section...but any responses would be appreciated!!
Thanks,

Let me preface with the fact that I don't have kids.
A different take on your surgeon's response could be that he has had many other patients carry babies after a TT. One woman can tell you that all her work from a TT fell apart, whereas another woman can tell you that everything went back to pre-pregnancy shape. Your surgeon, although he's male, can tell you percentages of women who have no problems, tell you what to watch out for, etc. To me, this seems like it might be an individual thing so maybe having someone who's seen a broad variety of patients might be more accurate information.
Another resource you to which you should consider is the opinion of your ob/gyn. I'd have to think that ob/gyns see a lot of patients who had TTs as well.
I'm not sure how they do c-section cuts but if they go with a vertical incision then I can't imagine why they would cut anywhere else other than your TT incision. I had a vertical incision hysterectomy and was told that the cut was similar to that of a c-section. That would also be something to discuss with the ob/gyn.
With whatever decision you make, good luck.
(sorry if this posted twice but I got booted hard and had to completely shut down and reboot).
