Infection!

So, I have these red areas next to my incisions and my doctor believes that it may be infection - though it could just be irritation.

He prescribed me an antibiotic called doxycycline hyclate. Has anyone ever used this antibiotic? Did you have any trouble with it?

Ugh, please pray for me!

Never used it but just had a round of erythromycin that made me very nauseous.  I've had RNY so I started taking Nexium and making sure to always take my enrythro with food.  I was curious, so I looked it up ... http://www.drugs.com/pro/doxycycline-hyclate.html

Thank you for your replies and prayers! Thank you for posting the link as well - I'm enjoying looking at the reviews.  It seems to be generally well-tolerated.

I had an infection in my incision for bracchio (5 weeks out now)  PS had me pack it with gauze soaked in saline for the first week.  That cleaned out the infection along with the antibiotic.  next 2 weeks I used neosporin covered by gauze soaked in saline.  Miracle of miracles.  it is all clear and healed well.  It was amazing and when I commented to the PS about it he said that those procedures where his own concoction.  It worked for me.  Good luck.

Yes, it is a very good and common antibiotic. It is often used for acne and other "skin" issues/infections.

Your going to be fine. Good luck.

Yep it is common for skin infections and I was on it as well.  I also had an infection in both arms about 3 weeks post op with my brachioplasty.  The antibiotic cleared the infection up in a week and I had no issues with it.  My pharmacist did suggest I go on acidipholis *not sure of the spelling on that* to help prevent the yeast infection that you can get on these antibiotics, so you may want to do that.
