Severe bloating... anyone had this problem after TT?

I had my LBL in late Nov 2009.  About 3 months later I started to notice that about 1-2 hours after I eat lunch or dinner I get really bloated.  This may have been happening before the LBL and I just didnt' notice it as much since there was more skin to expand in, but now it is very uncomfortable and getting more frequent.  I have made dietary changes with no resolution and I' take GasX which helps very little.  I finally called the surgeon who did my RNY and my colon cancer surgery.  He scheduled me for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy for Monday.  It was time for the colonoscopy anyway as a follow up for the cancer.  I have never had an endosocopy before and dread that part.  Hopefully I'll have enough happy drugs that I won't know whats going on...

Anyway, have any of you had this type of bloating and what did you do for it?

Thanks, Alice

Endoscopies are easy.  You're usually in a conscious sedation which means you're awake but you won't remember anything.  It should be pretty similar to your colonoscopy, just the other end.  ;)

Good luck with everything.

Do you use a probiotic? They are great at keeping the good flora active in your gut. Sometimes you can get an over adundance of the bad bacteria and it will cause extra bloating and gas. A good probiotic can help to balance the ratio of good to bad bacteria in the gut.

Since having all of my extra skin removed with my tummy tuck I can definitely notice any bloating a lot quicker now. I get very tight and uncomfortable. Mine is definitely related to carb consumption.

Good luck with your upcoming scopes. I hope they have good results.

Bloating is a sign of ovarian cancer.  Please have them eliminate that possibility too.

I notice every tiny bit of swelling now that I have had my LBL.  I can actually feel things tighten up after I eat a lot of salt.

An endoscopy is very, very simple and I never remember it afterwards.  All the best, Loris
