When were your drains removed?

I hate having drains (but I know they're good for me). I am really hoping my doc removes at least one or two of them tomorrow (I have four). In 24 hours, I am putting out:

30 cc in drain 1
40 cc in drain 2
35 cc in drain 3
20 cc in drain 4

The fluid looks like watered-down tomato juice (TMI - sorry!).  I have had them in going on 5 days.

When were your drains removed?

I had the first 2 removed at 10 days, the 3rd one at 3 weeks and the last one a 6 weeks. My Dr. required that they be 30cc's or less in 24 hours. So based on my Dr. you should get at least 2 out. Hopefully the other 2 will follow shortly.

Thanks for your reply!  That's great news.  Hopefully my doc follows the same protocol.

My first two were removed while I was still in the hospital. The other two were removed a week after the surgery. What freedom it is to have them out!

The two in my arms were removed 5 days out, the 4 in my mons were taken out 11 days after.

I had 2 drains. They were both removed after 6 days. I only ever got 10-15mL out of them within 24 hours so there realy wasn't a need to keep them longer.

 I had 5 drains and since I lived 2 hours away plus I am a nurse, my doctor let me pull my drains myself when they were lower than 30 cc in 24 hrs. My first, I pulled in about 1 week. Then I pulled each other one every  couple of days. The last one was about 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. Was I glad! I still think the drains were the worst part of recovery.

I had  all 4 of my drains removed at my one week follow-up (7 days)..  my output was similar to yours around day 5, and signficantly went down after that!

I got one drain out yesterday (my 5th day)!  I have another appointment this Friday and will hopefully get the last three out.

i had 2 drains in and they were in for one day max.
