tummy tuck...months later...question
So I had my tummy tuck February 24th and wore the thick binder for quite some time then went to a thinner "spanx-like" binder for a long time. I still wear it when I have regular clothes on, or working out, or sleeping. Maybe it's just habit?! But the question is, I can't remember how long I am acutally supposed to wear a binder? I was thinking it was only a short while and was told you would get so used to it that you would continue wearing it. What do others do?
I'm a year out and I still wear one almost 24/7. It's more of a shapewear than a binder. I still swell so I use it for that, plus I think my clothes look smoother with it on. Usually the normal is 6 weeks or as long as you feel you need it. There really isn't a rule on it. Some drs don't even require their patients wear them. I don't understand that one.
I think I'm the exception but I only wore the binders for about 2 weeks. Got my heavy duty binder at my one week follow-up, found it very helpful for about a week, then switched to compression type underwear/shape wear and wore that for about a week and am done with it all.
I actually find it more comfortable without it! I asked my surgeon about it and he made it seem like it was a personal preference and most people find it more comfortable to wear it. I hated the feeling and it was such a relief to get it off!
That's just me though!
Hugs,
Kristen
My panni was done may 3rd and I have tried to go a night without my binder, but I think it is my security balnket..I have tried to go without my binder at night...its "ok" but like now, its hot and I don't have it on, but I feel naked without it. The only good thing about NOT having it on is that my mushroom top is flatter without it on!!
