DONE with percocet!

I had my surgery on Wednesday - brachioplasty scar revision with lipo, back lift, and thigh lift with knee lipo. I have been taking percocet since then, and it's giving me weird dreams. Also, I am constipated. And I woke up with a pounding headache this morning, because I skipped my dose last night.  I have decided I'll just make it through with motrin here on out.

Anyone else have any bad experiences with percocet?  I have been drinking tons of fluids, eating lots of fiber and avoiding dairy, and I am still constipated. Yesterday I started taking Miralax once a day to try to move things along.  Does anyone have any advice?

I get weird dreams sometimes with percocet, and I believe that occurs with those types of pain meds.  Constipation is common both with pain meds AND anesthesia, so between the two it's uncomfortable to say the least.   If I skipped a dose of pain meds, I didn't get a headache though.  

Double check with your doctor if the motrin isn't cutting it and also to see if he/she has a recommended protocol for the constipation.  Mine had me take colace and at the first follow up 5 days out, he had me add metamucil.

I ask for precocet over vicodin because for me vicodin was far worse.  It upset my stomach almost to the point of vomiting.  I needed to take it until I was able to see my surgeon (orthopaedic in that case) in order to take it, I needed to eat ginger before I took it.  

I already fell off the wagon and took a percocet.  One of my drains is really hurting me.  They're hardly putting out any fluid and I hope he will remove them tomorrow.

I drank a cup of coffee this morning after 5 days and my headache went away - maybe a sign of recovery?  LOL

I don't do well with any pain  meds. I prefer Tylenol. I know crazy! However, I do take  them the first few days! 

I hope you are doing better. Why not try a stool softener pill?

Thanks!  I wonder if  I can take a stool softener in addition to the laxitive I am taking?  Tonight I got desperate and tried to "go," but couldn't even sit on the toilet because my incisions hurt so bad.  Then I got my binder all dirty and had to sit around and wait for it to be cleaned. It was a terrible situation, and completely fruitless.

I should take some pics!  I don't have any "before" ones, but I could still post some "after" ones.

Milk of Magnesia works the best for me.  I end up going withing an hour!  As for the dreams the girl who did my brazilian wax told me percocet gave her weird dreams.  Doesn't do that to me...thank God!
