Knees and calves

I've had my LBL, thighs and arms done, but I'd really like to debulk at my knees.  The thigh lift helped that some, but not as much as I'd really like.  Have you found anything for heavy knees that are still fat.  My knees and calves are the only place that I still have some fat on my body.  And I seriously cannot get them smaller.  I'm wondering about lipo in the knees and calves.  Anyone have this done?  My PS has said that the calf stuff is really hard on recovery and that there just isn't a good procedure for them.  I'm willing to accept that, but want to see before my appointment on Monday what others have done for knees.

Just something to think about...............when they do open heart and they have to take veins from the lower legs....recovery is tough....most say the legs hurt more than the chest.  That might be info that might shed light on why there is no good procedure and recovery is difficult.  GOOD LUCK with whatever decision you make.  Blessings,

I asked this exact question to a  PS I met with this past Wednesday.  He says there is no surgery for just the knee/calf area.  He also said you have to be VERY careful because of the lymphnodes and that if you cut the area, you can damage those and you will have a big problem with swelling.  I have normal size calfs but hate the fat around my knee.  He said with the thigh lift, I won't see much change in the knee area, just a little from lipo.  Not the result I was looking for.

If someone has had a procedure done for the knee area, I'd sure love to hear about it as well.

My PS told me several things:
1) They do not do calves because 1) there is nowhere to hide the incisions, and 2) there are potentially serious medical complications if they try to do an incision behind the knee and pull the skin up
2) They can do lipo around the knees, but that will not address the fact that the excess skin from the thighs all hangs downward and pools at the knee (gravity...)
3) If you have a lot of excess skin on the thighs, it usually is not possible to just do the groin incision and pull the skin up... the incision along the length of the inner thigh gives much better results, but those incisions are the most likely to break down and turn necrotic because of the generally very poor quality of the skin (and circulation) in that area.

After having my TT incision turn necrotic and having a giant hole in my belly for nearly 6 months, my thighs and knees will be staying just as they are because I cannot even risk having to go through THAT again.

I just had a thigh lift (groin to knee) in March and I'm still healing and swollen.  There is still a lot of fat around the inner knees that my doc says he can remove with lipo.  He wants to wait for about 6 months so things have a chance to settle first.  Like everyone else has said, unfortunately I've been told the same thing, not much can be done for the calfves.  I'm not sure if exercise will help but that's my only alternative.

We have come to the conclusion that there isn't a whole lot that can be done.  I might try to lipo around the knees, knowing that there will be more sagging skin that would have to be addressed later.  The only place that I have ANY fat is still around my knees and calfs and front of legs.  That is probably my genetic fat stores, and in all reality, it isn't losable.  My body fat % is low - like 20% which for a 47 year old woman, is LOW.  I've maintained this weight for 2 years following the body lifts and thigh lifts.  So now, I have to decide what I can live with, and how to get that into my head.

The battle is always in the head isn't it??  I really LOVE my new body.  Sure, there are areas that are not perfect - or even close, but I'm so pleased.
