Foods?

I am scheduled for a LBL and breast lift in about 2 months.  Very excited!  I have two young children and will have a nanny for 3 weeks.  I was wondering what easy high protein foods you liked having around when you were recovering?  When could you start to cook for yourself?  Was it hard for you to eat and drink post op?

I had mine a little over 2 weeks ago. I upped my protein by 75 g extra over what I had been getting. I had to do it through protein shakes because I couldn't eat enough to get it all in. I'm still doing that now as I heal. I made and froze meals before hand, and then my DH and my mom pitched in to make some more. I've started handling most of the kitchen duty this week.

As far as eating post op, I find I have no appetite and I really don't want to. Not because I feel sick or bad; I just don't want to eat. I have to force myself because your body needs the extra calories to heal properly.

Best wishes on your upcoming surgeries!

Thanks!  How are you feeling overall now?  Do you feel normal or human yet?  How long did you feel really bad?

I feel really good now- just some soreness, but no real pain anymore. The first few days were the hardest, and then the improvement grew by leaps and bounds. You will do fine by paying attention to your protein and continuing with your cardiovascular fitness.

thats good to hear.  My trainer got me to switch from running (I do a bit but not as much) to spin classes.  So I am killing it in cardio :)  Hopfully it will really pay off!

I had a LBL w/ anchor cut and lipo 3 months ago. It was extremely hard to get all of my protein from food afterwards bc I had no appetite. I didn't even want to look at food for at least 2 weeks after.  I drank protein shakes everyday (Each scoop was 25 g. I made double shakes with skim milk and 2 scoops of chocolate whey protein from Walmart. Each shake totaled approx. 60-65g. I used a blender to make them smooth and I was surprised that they were so good that I did not get tired of them). I would drink 1 in morning and 2nd at night.  So, with the small amount of food I was eatting (concentrating on proteins), it was easy to get  about 150mg per day. I honestly feel that with the high protein and the vitamin regimen that my surgeon had me on (zinc, vit A & vit C), I heeled extremely quickly  with no complications. Good luck.
