Need advice....

I have lost 174lbs but still have about 120 more to go.  I am considering a breast reduction now because me neck and back are killing me and I am getting rashes etc under my breasts.  I am also considering having my huge panni removed.  It is really in the way and hinders exercise etc.  My question is, has anyone had this done in the middle of their weight loss?  I understand that I may have to do this all again (plus arms, thighs) when the rest of the weight comes off and I am ok with that.  But is there a downside to doing it now.  Thanks for the advice.

For some doctor's they want you to have been at a stable weight for a period of time.  However, there may be instances why they would do it early, but then you might have to do it again in the end.  My doctor said he would like me to be within 20% of my goal and I am.  Just depends, but you'll probably have to have touch up work again.

Hi Cass,  I struggled with the same issue.  I was at 448 when I started and am not at 248.  My panni is huge and so are my inner thighs.  It is embarrassing when I walk down a step and my tummy makes a slapping noise.  I went to my surgeon and a plastic surgeon and they both agreed it was up to me....of course they would be fine if I waited to lose 100 more pounds but you know what?  I am 46 years old and who knows how long it is going to take to get to 150 pounds if ever I do?  I wasted a lot of years being SMO and had I known about the DS long ago, I would have had it way back when.  I am not going to do the same thing with plastics.  I am having them now!  I am sure once my panni and inner thighs are removed, I can fit into a size 16 pants which is just fine with me.  I haven't work a 16 since high school and I will consider myself a success.  I am not a swim suit model or a pole dancer and my husband has loved me at every weight, so if I don't look perfect after surgery....I am just fine with that too!  good luck on your decision....I don't think there is any right answer, just the right decision for you!  I am sure most people disagree with my logic, and I can understand why they would.  I know for me, I am ready for plastics on July 1!

Thank you very much for your advice.  I know that if I do get to my goal or close to it, I would have to have more done.  I will need my arms done (I hate the slapping sound they make already), my thighs and then more on my stomach.  I started out at 480 lbs and am at 303 right now.  I already had a large panni when I started but it's even worse now.  I probably wouldn't have surgery for awhile since I haven't even seen a platic surgeon yet and I would have lost more weight in that time but I think that I, personally, would feel better if I had this done sooner than later.

Again, thanks for your opinion.
