Hi all! I'm excited.. I'm having my panniculectomy tomorrow morning.. Bright and early! Now, this is a mid journey one, and it's a BIG pannus to be removed.. Surgeon said it's going to be a big job AND I'm getting the mons done too.. (yay)
My question to you all is, is there anything I could do to aid my recovery better? Anything you wish you would've done or known in recovery to make it go faster/smoother? Thank you very much for your advice and I will keep you posted.  :)

Hi,
I don't have any words of advise, hopefully someone with more experience will chime in soon. I just wanted to say congratulations and to wish an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery.

Take care,
Ole

Congrats and best wishes tomorrow and during your recovery time. I had TT on May 20th. I have had no trouble but the normal swelling.
Drink plenty of fluids, keeps your legs elevated, get lots of protein, get plenty of rest an dwalk as soon as the doctor says go. Most of them want you walking as soon as possible to prevent blood clots.
Again good luck tomorrow and keep us posted!

When you are able to walk, do the walking that you can do, but don't over do it.  Gradually you will be able to move more.  But walking is important after every surgery to help prevent blood clots.

Make sure some of your basics in the kitchen are either on the counter so you don't have to bend too much.

Whever you're going to set yourself up for your recovery - either a recliner, couch or bed - have it set up today so that when you come home, you can get in and get settled.  For me, DH had a sheet on the recliner, a bed tray, surger protector, basic medical stuff all by the recliner.    If you're on a couch or bed, have the pillows ready to elevate your back and your feet.

If you're staying overnight in a hospital, have whoever is picking you up, get your scripts for pain meds, etc from the surgeon the same day of surgery so they can get them filled before they pick you up from the hospital.  Again, when you are discharged the last thing you want is to wait for someone to pick up the scripts at the pharmacy or wait to get home with them.

Don't try to do too much too fast.

Good luck to you!

i was weeding a week and a half later (even though I shouldn;t have...)  I always walked a bit hunched over after my surgery and I made sure for the 1st week I took my pain pills, not so much for pain, but to allow myself to rest.  I am NOT a napper....I slept in a recliner and ate tons of protien.  Feel free to email me with any ?'s!!  You will be fine!  [email protected]
