Hey Everyone!

Is there some kind of rule of when to start driving again? I feel better but just need those extra minutes to get in and out of the car. I experienced it on Monday when I went to my follow up appt.

Tomorrow is 2 of my daughter's graduation @ 10am and @2pm and I kinda want to wake up early and go get balloons.

Feedback please!

My Dr. said about 1 week and also as long as I'm not on pain meds and if I feel like I can control the car ie: shifting, cluch, turning to look behind me while backing up. I am driving now I'm two weeks post op tomorrow. I prefer not to drive but nobody wants to drive me anywhere. My 17 yr old son will drive me places if I really need him to, but he's a new driver and I'm a paranoid passenger, I can't handle the stress lol. So how are you feeling? I'm doing better everyday but still wishing that the numbness would go away and the swelling. The more I'm able to do the better I feel, so if I can get the dishes done or go to the store or cook dinner then I'm having a pretty good day. Oh and take care of my new puppy which is kind of hard to do when I take him outside to potty it's hard to reach down and pick him up because he's just a little weener dog and he's barely going to be 8 weeks tomorrow. He's a cute dog, just bad timing, but the kids don't mind helping because he's so cute :~)

I was able to drive 24 hrs after my last pain meds. I drove at 5 days out for only 5 miles one way. I would adjust my car seat to help getting in and out. Since my first outing I have ventured out pretty often. I drove myself to my first checkup on June 1 which is 1.5 hours away. I am dreading though my 18 hr trip June 29 to WV.

It gets easier, take your time and ask for help at stores getting your balloons in the car to keep from pulling and too much discomfort.

Good luck and have a fun weekend!

Off the pain meds and when you feel comfortable driving (ie:  not afraid of pulling anything).
