Hi all,

I'm Rachel. I've been on OH for many years, and am just having PS for the first time.

I was just research compression garments on line and they can be pricey!!!

Anyone have a suggestion for a cheap on that works well?

Also, how long did you wear yours.

Thanks!

Rachel

I woke up with just a binder on for the lbl and ace wraps for my arms.  Some surgeons use far more extensive compression garments, but mine does not.

I have to ask my surgeon how long I need to wear the compression stuff.  He did tell me that if I want to wear something like spanx instead of the binder for under dress clothes I could.

Ask your surgeon during your pre-op about compression garments.  Chances are, you'll get one from them before you leave the hospital.  Then you can also buy a second one to have while you're washing the other.

Hi Lisa,

I had my pre-op today and we talked about it. I'll have a binder from my surgeon, but wanted a second one for wash/wear.

He told me to buy a basic girdle. Went to walmart today and they look really uncomfortable and the idea of hooks kind of scares me around the incision areas.

I saw some that you just pull up, but again, I was afraid of tugging the incisions with a tight, pull-on garment.

Did you feel you needed a second one?

Thanks!
Rachel

I already had a binder from a hysterecomy I had 2 years ago. So I didn't have to buy a second one.

Look at abdominal binders that close with velcro.

What my surgeon told me is that it doesn't have to be "tight" just firm to give you support.

I am sorry I am jumping in here. I did feel I needed two......I posted this somewhere else but didn't want it to get lost. I bought an extra binder at a medical supply store but they also had them at CVS. It worked to have two.

Have a great day!

 Hi Rachel,

When I woke from surgery, I already had my garment on! FUN! FUN! LOL! :-)

I didn;t have to order my own garment, although, I sometimes wish I had two.

Have a great day!

 Hey Rachel,

Just curious, did you have your pre-op yet?
I see your surgery is right after mine. I had my preop yesterday!  :-)

FLEXEES is a great brand after a couple of weeks.
The HOOK....best possible....for ease
Pull up right after surgery....I wouldn't want to try it.
I wore the binder....had a second one.
Then purchased one expensive compression garment with the zipper...I could not get in it alone.
Whatever you do....use something...helps with the swelling.

GOOD LUCK!  i had my 6 week post op today with my PS....

I definitely will wear something. That's why I'm looking for another...to improve my chances of being diligent :-) They sell flexees at Kohls. I'll check them out today. thanks for the advice.
