Hello everyone,
I haven't been on the boards for a long time. I had an lbl with spiral thighplasty & butt augmentation last summer. My surgeon is great but I was one of the unlucky with some complications. I have to go in again for some revisions and I'm just wondering how that compares to the full lbl.
My 1st surgery took about 7 hours and my PS said this surgery should take about 3 hours. I'll need to have a few deep sutures removed and replaced under my butt cheek and he also wants to pull me up all the way around a few inches because I have dropped. I'll also need some lipo.
I'd love to hear about any revision experiences. I only have 3 weeks off work and I'm so worried that won't be enough time to heal. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi Liz,
I haven't had a revision so I can't help you there, but I'm amazed that your revision is a 3 hour job. Are you having to pay for all this or is he doing it for free? Was it because you didn't like the way it turned or, or was it the surgeon's idea?
Just curious.

Hi Barb,
I don't have to pay any surgeon's fees, just for the OR and anesthesia.
Unfortunately I had complications. I had several openings and have been dealing with one opening for almost a year now. He says that a deep suture must be contaminated so he has to go back in and remove it (or a few of them) and re-suture it. It's very deep near the bone. He said that would be the two hours then another hour to lift me up again all the way around since I have dropped a few inches and do some lipo.
I obviously need to get the suture removed so I can finally close up, and I really want to let him do the other revisions to the lbl, just unsure of how difficult recovery will be because the first surgery was a bear.

I may be wrong, but I think most revisions are minor compared to what you are going to go through. From what I've read on this site, revision ususally just involve the top layer of skin to fix the scaring or dog ears.
Since he's haveing to go deep to fix the deep suture, and do more of a lift, I would think you can expect the recovery and pain to be about what it was with the first surgery, though hopefully without the complications.

Oh and BTW, I just had an LBL with butt-aug and ab muscle tightening and only had 3 weeks to recover. I was a little tired the first couple of weeks back to work but I did OK. I think you'll be fine with 3 weeks if you don't have any complications.
I have seen where many people who had major complications the first time, didn't have any with the revision so I'm hoping that will be true for you too.

I would think it wouldn't be as bad. The area that is going to be the sorest is the part that where the deep surtures are going to be. The biggest part of the surgery has already been done along with the muscle tightening so let's hope it won't be so bad. I had a revision to my anchor cut and it wasn't bad at all.
