Hello everyone!

Just curious! How much activity did you do within a week after surgery, espcially TT or Penni. I know everyone is different but I'm curious.

Share please.

I was discharged with "ambulate as necessary."  During my pre-op I asked my surgeon when I can do a work out of just "light walking" and that was 3 weeks out from surgery.  So I only do very limited walking now and not for any great lengths.

I am 7 weeks out now.  The week after surgery I did only what was necessary and very slowly.  I wanted to be more active, I did not want to get out of my routine, but I also did not want to cause any swelling or complications.  And I am very pleased that I am right back on track.  My exercise sabbatical did not cause me to lose my momentum.  Good Luck and take it easy!

My Dr. wanted me to be up and walking during the day as much as I could tolerate to avoid blood clots. By the end of the 1st week I was walking thru the neighborhood probably 1/2 mile 1 way. By Week 3 I was back in the gym on the treadmill w/ my Dr.'s approval doing an hour at about 3.5 mph or a little more. As long as it wasn't lifting weights or pulling the incisions my surgeon was fine w/ me walking and stuff as long as I felt comfortable .

Hello, I was very limited my first few days. I had surgery on Thursday, May 20 came home on 21st. Was told to walk as much as possible to keep from blood clots forming. Rested Sat and Sun. I work from home so Monday 24th I worked 9 hours from my recliner of course taking my walk breaks. The first week I walked just around my house and in yard. Week two I went back to the lake walking 2 miles a day. Much, much slower. Week three I walked 3 miles and have not increased and moving slightly faster. I can see a difference in energy again. I had a check up today at 3 weeks 4 days post op. My dr was very pleased and at this point he said I can swim, walk and more walk, I will know my limits he said. Lay flat, on sides-whatever is comfortable for me. I do still have quite a bit of swelling but as he said in time that will go down as well as most of the numbness. I am sure I will never have a flat stomach but already feel so much better. I think the moving in earlier weeks helped with me with walking straight now. I thought I would never walk straight again but it happened.
Well that is my story............hope it helps and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks ladies for the feedback.

I just got home from my post op appt. I had my left drain removed and he mentioned that I will see a slight increase in fluids on the right side to compensate for the left. We shall see. I will be going back on Friday to remove the right side. Everything looks good though. I took a pain killer, it started throbbing a few minutes after he removed the left drain. OUCHHHHHH! CRAPOLLA!!!! Hehehehehehe!
