home from extended arm lift

I am back from extened arm lift.  Right now both are very swollen.  The left hurts a lot more than the right arm.  I go tomorrow to have the bandages changed.  I feel like they are both leaking fluid around the arm pit.  Can't see anything but that entire area has a cold clammy feel to it.  I do not have drains they stopped after day 3 so he took them out.  We took before pictures and will take after pictures when I get the bandages removed tomorrow.  I am not computer savvy so I will wait until then and have DH upload them from the camera to my profile to share.  I didn't take any pictures right after the surgery, I had a problem with breathing so I was out of it for the first 24 hours.  We still don't know what caused that but I am ok now so guess it wasn't too serious.  Scarey as heck but nothing major.  Right now I have mixed feelings because my arms don't look smaller.  I know it most be swelling but there hiding in the back of my head is the doubt.  Will I always have that?  I have really been trying to improve myself both physically & mentally.  I have been such a negative person for so long.  Really hate that about myself more than the weight.  Gosh didn't mean to write all this.  Good luck to each of you.  Jolyn

Hi Jolyn,
I'm so glad you are home and things went well. I bet  your arms are quite swollen and that is why they don'y look any smaller. You will have thin, sexy arms in no time! It's so hard to wait patiently for final results! Make sure you take your pain meds and stool softeners, get lots of rest and drink lots of water and you will do great. I will be looking forward to seeing your pictures. Take care and God bless you.

Wow Jolyn, that's scary that you had breathing problems after surgery - certainly reminds us that it's important to have this surgery done by well trained professionals in an appropriate location so they can take care of unexpected things like that.

I'm glad you're okay and well I guess you're dealing with the aftermath of sugery - swelling and healing. Hope the rest goes easy.

As for geing a negative person, you can turn that around with help - and it's worth working on because it would make you a happier person so you can get more enjoyment out of life - including enjoying your new arms.

Take care

I'm sure it's swelling. It may be a week or two before you see the major swelling go away. I'm sure your arms are smaller so just be patient. Just concentrate on resting and keeping your arms elevated and that will help.
