Tingling after running
Hey guys,
I had a TT 6 months ago and lipo on my thighs a little over 3 months ago. I have been cleared (for some time now) to exercise.
I am fine on the elliptical, but when I actually run--play sports with running etc. my body (mostly in my abdomen and down into my hips/ upper butt) has an intense tingling/numb sensation for a short period of time after I stop.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows what's causing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm not sure if what I have is the same as what you're talking about. I have intense itching/stinging DURING running in the areas you described. This happens especially if I haven't run in a few days. Not so much on the treadmill unless I run faster than normal. But it's so much worse when I run on the street. It will happen for maybe two to three runs and then I'm fine, but if I miss a couple days and then start running on the street again, it's back.
I did a little research and from what I could tell, the "itching" is not on the skin surface. It's actually inside in the blood vessels being opened passed their normal capacity to accommodate the increased blood flow. Normally, they open just enough to support normal sedentary activity but when you run they open more and this increased opening, if you will, causes the itching sensation.
Not sure if this is even related to what you are experiencing. Not even sure if it's a correct assessment. Seems like if a person runs often, those vessels should remain open to a level that accommodates the increased blood flow.

This actually does resemble a lot of what I've experienced after running. I have been associating the itching with sweating and being outside.... but your explanation makes a lot more sense. How long has this been going on for you? Should I expect pain for a long time, or will it eventually go away? Thanks for your response!
It has been going on for a few years. Seems like it's worse than ever now. I have to run every couple days because if not, it starts again and it takes about two runs before it doesn't do it again. I hate it. I actually get so pissed when it happens.
I don't usually feel pain. It's just the intense itchy sensation particularly in the fatty areas like buttocks, thighs, love handle area. I don't think there's a cure for this...dangit.
