Breast reduction and tummy tuck same time?

Hi All,

I've been lurking on this board for a bit and decided to ask a question.

I just had my first plastics consultation and I wondered about this; if I have a breast reduction first, will the panni pull the breast tissue down if I don't have it removed at the same time?

I'm pretty sold on the breast reduction, but wondering about the pain from the tummy tuck. I am a wimp when it comes to pain....

If I have the breast reduction and no tummy tuck, I'm thinking I will just look pregnant!!!

All advice welcome.

My surgeons do breast work and TT at the same time. I had no problem with my breast pulling down at all. Everything is in the right place. I had the LBL and the pain was bearable with pain pills. It wasn't as bad as I expected. I'm glad I did it together so it's definitely something to consider.

Thank you for the reply. The surgeon is willing to do both surgeries at the same time, but I don't know if I'm willing to have them done together.
I have a feeling that I should get them done at the same time, but I really wanted to take a poll on the pain and mobility issues.
Normally, do you have a high pain tolerance?

I think I have a high pain tolerance but how do we really know since we can only speak for our own bodies. KWIM?   Actually, the breast lift was a breeze. I hardly experienced any pain and not much soreness.  I didn't felt limited by that surgery at all.  It was the LBL that limited my mobility.  It really gets better after the first week or two.  It really is worth it!

I had 3 consults here and none of the doctors would do more than one procedure at once due to healing issues after gastric bypass.  None of the doctors said it mattered which procedure I did first. I went with the tummy tuck first, I figured a supportive bra could fix the boob issue for a while lol

My surgeon did both TT and breast work at the same time. If yours is willing, I say go for it. The breasts really weren't that big a deal; uncomfortable, yes but I probably could have gotten back to normal activities in a few days with a few lifting restrictions and nothing more. The TT, on the other hand, was harder; first couple of weeks is the surgical pain/uncomfortable from being pulled so tight and having the drains; Next two weeks were all about muscle spasm; then (and still now, although it's better at 9 weeks post op) is SWELLING.

Good luck.

Hi Tara,
I just had a Breast reduction & panni removal May 25 & 26th and the Pannulectomy was good the drains suck big time...the breast reduction is sore after I'm not going to sugar coat it..the 3rd day was tough itchy and soreness..but here I am almost 3 weeks out and I am doing really well..The trick is Rest rest, and more rest..you heal quickly..I was so glad to have those drains removed after 14 days it was a crazy gross thing going home with those things comming out of your private parts (mons) anyway d I have regrets Hell NO..go for it you'll be so happy in the long run. Best Wishes..Hugs Des

Thank you for your honesty. I had big time "buyer's remorse" after WLS. I'm really afraid that I couldn't survive another bout of it.

I'm still not sure about having TT. Breast reduction is something I've wanted most of my life though!

Hi,
I'm a big pain wimp and decided to have both procedures (BR and TT - not panni) at the same time. I figured I'd just get it over with and I don't want to go through anesthesia twice.

My surgery is in two weeks. I'll keep you posted.

I'll be watching for your posts Rachel. I am booked for a TT and lift/reduction in late Aug and I had the same thoughts - I don't want to go through anesthesia and recovery 2x.
