Depression after surgery???

It has been 1 week since surgery and usually I have someone here to take care of me and the kids, but yesturday my Mom went back home and my husband went back to work. Since everyone left I have been feeling really down in the dumps, I'm feeling alittle bit abandoned by everyone. My 16yr old son is no help at all and when I ask him for anything it's the end of the world for him. My 9 yr old wants all my attention and can't understand why I don't want to go anywhere. My 14 yr old was a help but she went home with my Mom and won't be bac****il Sunday. Oh yeah and did I tell you husband decided to work overtime this weekend.  My hair is a total mess and the only way to comb it would be to take a shower and condition it and I really don't have the energy to take a shower. UGH!! Sorry for the pity party, tell me this depression will go away soon I hate it here. Thanks for listening to me rant and rave.

Sorry you're not getting the kind of help you need now.  Maybe you can have your DH talk to your 16 & 9 year old and lay it out for them that they need to cool their jets.

Are you able to drive yet?  Can you maybe take yourself out to a salon and have them do your hair?  Your hair will be taken care of and you'll take time for yourself.

Not sure what else to suggest...

Tara,
Sorry things are so tough for you right now. The post surgical depression really does suck! At least for most people it is short lived. I will keep you in my prayers. Take care of yourself. God bless.

Unfortunately it is common but like the other poster said, it is usually short lived. I had a good cry with each of my surgeries within the first week after surgery. I just hated not feeling like myself and helpless those first couple of days. It wasn't that I was in pain but just didn't have much energy to do what needed to be done. I wanted to get back to my old normal and do everything for everybody like I always did (well not everything but it feels like it some days). Imagine that! I bounced back from my thigh lift and arm lift much quicker than my LBL even though I was limited more in the beginning with the thighs and arms.

Just give it time. It will get better!

I certainly understand.  I was alone for almost 3 weeks in Brazi, both timesl.  I think, more than anything, I was lonely.
Hang in there!

Thank you all for your replies. Once hubby got home from work I had him help me out in the shower and was able to get my hair washed so that made me feel alittle bit better.  Today was long and boring and I had lots of errands to run but I don't really like to drive right now it's uncomfortable but thankfully Hubby got off work earlier then expected so he drove me around to do the grocery shopping so it was nice just to get out of the house for a few hours and then we all went out for dinner nothing fancy but at least I didn't have to cook it or clean it up. Will be getting out of the house tomorrow for a few hours I'm going to pick up my new puppy, I can't wait to see my daughters face when we pick up the puppy I haven't told her yet, it's a surprise. I hope you all have a greaqt weekend and that I continue to feel better too.
