When you get to the hospital, once you're called back and right before they ask you to change, they'll ask you when your last period was, if you have any tampons or pads on - they'll give you special panties/pads.  They'll take care of you when you're out.

It wasn't an issue with me because I was spayed 2 years ago - but the funny thing is 2 days before my hysterectomy, I started my very last period.  Nice... had to get one last one in.  LOL

Good luck!

Yes to what Lisa said. And, don't feel self conscious about it- the nurses are very used to it and it's old hat to them. Best wishes!

LOL! I laugh because it's the same exact fear I was having!! My surgery is next Friday and I am scared that this will happen to me, since mine isn't "predictable"..   I received the same advice... No tampons, just tell them and they'll give you a pad. Good luck! ;)
