Tummy Tuck: Would You Do It Again?

I am preparing for a ventral incisional hernia repair.  It is HUGE.  It extends from my sternum to my pelvis.  While I am having that repaired, I am considering a tummy tuck.  However, given the nature of the surgery and the recovery, please give me your input.  If you have had a tummy tuck (mine would be an 'anchor incision'), would you do it again?  How has your recovery been?  Was it worth it (financially and physically and emotionally)?

Thank you very much for your time!  Have a great day!

My only response to that it "Hell yeah!". I would do it again and again. It was totally worth it in every way. Even with the debt, I would do it again in a heartbeat! For me, the pain and recovery was not anywhere as bad as I thought it would be and I had a lower body lift with my abdominoplasty/muscle repair and an arm lift at the same time and it still wasn't that bad. It is a bit of up and down emotionally speaking but again, totally worth it! So my answer is "yes" I would absolutely do it again! Hope this helps. Best to you on your upocoming surgery and recovery. God bless you.

I most definitely would do it again. I love my results and I love the way my jeans fit me. No muffin top! My recovery was very uneventful. You will most likely have a more challenging recovery but you could have them both done in one surgery and only recover one time. I would go for it!

The reason why I would do the tummy tuck now is for the 'one time' recovery.  I am just a little nervous.  I have not had the best luck with my DS surgery recovery!  Thank you all for your input!!

LOL I DID do it again. I had a TT last year and just had it redone by another surgeon because the first one didn't pull me anywhere near tight enough. Love how it looks now.

How much did they take off in your orginal surgery?  And your second?  So, you love your new belly, eh?  What kind of incision did they use?  I am so happy that you are pleased!

I am only 3 weeks out and still have the swelling going on but have had too many people here love their results and have seen alot of pics so that is proof enough for me that I will eventually love mine too. So, Yes.........I would do it again!

My original surgery was supposed to be a full TT with ab tightening and a new belly button. When I woke up and peeked at my belly the first thing I noticed was that my belly button was still the same. He only cut off the part that hung over the pubic mound - basically a panni. Nor did he tighten my ab muscles. He said I didn't need tightening, and that he couldn't pull my skin down any tighter because my skin would expand at my waist and i'd actually get bigger. And of course he refused to fix it or give me my money back. Grrrr

The second surgeon was able to remove from below my previous TT scar to above my belly button (about 4 inches), tightend my ab muscles and gave me a new belly button. And yes, I still sink in below the ribs and my waist (when I'm not all swollen) is 2 inches smaller. That other PS was full of #$#!

I strongly advise you to find a PS that's done a lot of WLS patients and knows how stretchy we are.

In a heartbeat. I had a full LBL and the recovery was relatively easy. Being that you are having a hernia repair I'd think your recovery may be a little tougher just because of that. But then again you'll probably have that anyway so why not end up w/ a flat belly on top of that.
