Since my RNY 2007, I have spent plenty o’ time onna table! By July of this year, surgically I will have had:

Laparoscopic RNY Gastric Bypass
Laparoscopic Gallbladder Removal
Emergency Open Bowel Repair
Lower Blepharoplasty
Upper Blepharoplasty
Lower Face Lift
Fraxel Laser Eye Repair
Revision- Lower Blepharoplasty
Mons Lift
Upper Leg Lift
Extended Abdominoplasty
Hernia Repair
Brachioplasty (massive)
Mastopexy Scar Revision (Mastopexy)
Buttock Lift
Lateral Thighplasty
Tissue/Fat Transplantation to Face

That’s 17 surgeries, and $25,500 to date..   What’s left? A medial thigh lift (another $8k), but I am absolutely out of cash. And in a couple years a redo of the lower face, probably, since it really just wasn’t very well done. And I’m not a plastic surgery addict type—I just had boatloads of skin, everywhere. Yeesh!

The costs of being obese were high, but so are the costs of leaving it behind--- luckily, those are just material. Oh, well, and pain. But I’m getting’ there!

Edited to add: It'll be $33,500 after this summer.

Your prices were better than mine. My first round was 11,300 and I need to redo most of that(eyes and thighs) My next is 8300 (LBL) . I searched for the best prices and doctors and the next one is with a resident program. Its all worth it in the end.

My first thought was "wow you got a great price for all that". I hope insurance pitched in some, since, if I recall correctly, you had things well documented. You are one that I have tried to follow your progress, because you have had all of the things done that I have, or plan to, and your posts are usually informative.

I had seen many of your plastics pictures at one time, and was impressed, especially if you got them at that great of a deal, but am now wondering what has changed (with the lower face thing).

The pics I saw looked great, but were early, and you were dealing with thicker incisions on the upper lids, but the lower face looked good then. May I ask what has changed about it? It's one of the many things I plan to have done, and know there are several different ways that lower faces are dealt with and have heard some are longer lasting than others.

My lower face just wasn't pulled taut enough-- I still have deep marionette lines. I also have crepe-y bagging still under the eyes, which my body surgeon is going to try to fles out a bit with a fat transplant.

I haven't posted a non-Photoshopped pic of my face-- so I probably looked better here than I actually do.

Insurance paid only the $3k for my hernia.

I "KNEW" starting this that I WOULD be the equivalent of a NICE new car, luxury if you will at around 52K.  Since I don't believe in buying cars NEW it's all good.  I had my first car a 1985 Mazda bought in 1992 till 2000.  My current 1995 Toyota I bought in 2000!!  So far I'm worth MORE then both cars AND the repair lol!!

The great thing is the work we have done will last longer than a new luxury car! And we are all worth it!

I was thinking the same thing - you got a great deal.  My RNY was somewhere around 80K but insurance paid that.  Plastics, somewhere around 30K.  We won't even get into the sports related injuries I've had treated because I love being active now.

Living life certainly has it's price.
RNY:  10/11/2001 PS:  May 28, 2010: Circumferential body lift with gluteal augmentation and brachioplasty & thoracoplasty June 25, 2010: Bilateral breast augmentation with mastopexy and medial thigh lift

OOPS-- the RNY wasn't included in the dollar figure-- just the plastics. My RNY would have been over $100k, but BC BS paid it.

I've been wondering where you've been lately, I LOVE your posts!    Can you friend me so I can see these lines of which you speak??    I thought I was one but it won't let me in.  We chatted way back when you were doing the eyes.   I'm grew up nearby;Newtown Square; you spoke to me about your doc in Media.  Thanks!

I really cannot suggest the doc in Media anymore. I have seen much better results elsewhere!
