How much weight did you gain after plastics?!

Being a L&D nurse, I knew to expect weight gain post-op, so I didn't even bother to get on the scale the first two weeks. The good news is, because of the post-op appetite suppression I actually LOST weight post-op.....nine pounds total in the first 4 weeks; I've been maintaining it for the last 4 weeks and hope to do so permanently. Maybe I'll even lose another couple once the swelling is gone for good.

GOOD LUCK.

First let me say "Congrats!". I wouldn't be too worried about the weight gain. I bet it is mostly fluid and swelling. I vowed to myself not to weigh in after either of my plastics at least for 4 weeks. It' s not worth the added anxiety. As long as you are watching what you eat, you should not gain any weight. Also, make sure you keep to a low sodium diet (1500mg a day or less) while you are recovering. I was really strict with this for the 9 weeks between my two plastic surgeries and my swelling was pretty minimal. I plan on staying on a reduced sodium diet for at least 6 months or more post op. Swelling is a ***** It's right up there with compression garments and constipation! LOL! Take care and God bless you!

I just had lift and implants done a little over 2 weeks ago. The morning after surgery I was up about 13lbs. I've noticed as the swelling goes down so does my weight. I'm about 3lbs higher now than before the surgery. I still have a little swelling and I'm assuming the implants must be a couple of lbs.

I would think that with a TT too, you would gain more.

Good Luck

First of all you shouldn't have weighed yourself so soon! Second, it's not unheard of. I've heard plenty of people say that they gained quite a few pounds right after surgery. Yes they do fill your body with fluids but swelling is also a response to your body healing so you can't blame it all on fluids. I'd stay away from the scale for a couple of weeks and you will see the weight come off. It may be several weeks or a few months before you see what your final weight will be depending on how long you swell. As long as you are eating healthy you should be fine.

I think I can beat everyone on the fluid weight gain. I went in the hospital at 147 and came out at 185!!!

BUT I had thrown two blood clots in my left upper thigh. Sheez, what a surprise and man I could hardly walk.

HOWEVER, 3 1/2 months later I weigh 154 and I'm still losing every day.

Just keep your compression garments on and you should be un-swelled in no time.

Everyone asks me if I would do it again if I knew what would happen. WHAT A STUPID QUESTION. However, you can bounce a freaking quarter off my stomach now and my ass has never looked this good. Sure I have to wear a compression stocking on my left leg for 8 hours a day but you can't see it and by next week I won't have to wear it again unless needed. HELL YES I WOULD DO IT AGAIN, **** happens when you get operated on.
