How much weight did you gain after plastics?!
So, I'm home from a tummy tuck with lipo, breast lift and implant...I expected to gain a few lbs but I gained 22 lbs from the morning of my surgery to the following day I got home (having not eaten a thing in the meantime)! It's been a few days and it's not budging!
I know all about swelling and weight gain, I just guess I didn't realize the extent of it!
Please tell me I'm not crazy! Or at least share your experiences with me!
Hugs,
Kristen

OMG that sounds impossible!!! That is alot of fluids. Do you have drains to get the fluid out? I wasn't able to weigh myself for 2 weeks after plastics and I was about 5 pounds down when I was able to weigh. I was told to eat extra calories while healing and I took that to heart and have gained about 3 pounds in the last 4 weeks. Back to the gym next week for me!! Have you asked your surgeon?? Maybe your scale is off?? lol

Extended TT, Full Arm lift, BL/BA, Long Thigh lift
That does sound like quite a bit...but they do pump you FULL of fluids while you are on the IV. My doctor cut off 15 lbs and I came home with the scale only saying I'd lost half of that. So, I had about 7 lbs of fluid. It took about a month for the scale to show the full 15 lbs and then I've lost a few more since then. Hang in there...it should start to come off. Also, you definately need to look into getting lymphatic massages, they helped a TON for me with my swelling!

Hey Kristen,
I had brachioplasty and a breast lift. It was about three days later that I weighed myself and I had gained 10 lbs. You aren't crazy...I hadn't expected that to happen especially since it was 'only' my arms and breasts. How are you feeling? I see you are in Boston...may I ask who performed you surgery and what hospital? I think a lower body lift will be in my future.

Hi Cher,
Thanks for the reassurance. I figure I'm not really crazy, I'm pretty conscious of my food choices and stocked up on high protein, low fat options before the surgery. I exercise a lot and want to try to maintain as much muscle as I can.
I went to MGH - Dr. Gallico. http://www.cosmeticsurgeryofboston.com/ - so far so good. I can't say enough about the staff and the Dr., they were SO professional and nice, make you feel extremely comfortably. He's affiliated with MGH, so you can either have your surgery there - or at their private facility (which I chose). I can't see the full results from since I'm still all bandaged up, but I did sneak a little peak at the ladies and OMG, I am DYING to see the final result, I think it's going to be amazing!
I did see a tummy tuck he performed on a friend of mine and it looks perfect, you can barely even see the scar! Hoping that's how it goes for me!
I'm feeling devent, it's only been a few days - still a bit sore to get up and down, but manageable. Boobs are a cake-walk compared the tummy tuck in my opinion, but well worth it, in my case anyway!
Anyway - PM me any time with questions. Oh - and I will add, Dr. Gallico has been Best of Boston for the past 10+ years, which is great - but you also pay for that!!! Most expensive quote I got, but for this sort of thing, I figured it was worth paying more and getting more!
Hugs,
Kristen

Thank you for the info Kristen. I might take you up on pming some questions. It might be a good six months from now before I can do my LBL..I'm also considering going to NC for it so I could stay with my parents in SC after surgery. Tough choice since we are luckiy to have such good health care here.
Oh yeah...I totally agree with you about the boobs being a cake walk (almost zero pain)...in my case compared to the brachioplasty.

I am not sure how all the swelling works, but that seems like a lot to me. I would call the doc and ask him/her if your truly concerned.
I weighed 180 on their scale before surgery and 175 after surgery on their scale. A week later I am at 174 on my scale. I was told they took over 20lb of skin/etc. off during surgery. I am hoping all the swelling goes down soon & I can dip into the 160's.

I MY RNY 5-5-09 Life is Good
I was concerned about weight gain after PS due to the inability to exercise for a few weeks following the surgery.
I has my tummy tuck 12/28/09 and then had to go back in a week later due to a seroma. I was told that only 4-5 pounds was removed.
I was not able to exercise for 6 weeks following he procedure and when the doctor did release me I had no desire to move one bit. It was strange because I would constantly go to my check ups and ask when I can start running again and when he finally said I could, I had lost all motivation. I then started to snack and all of sudden I could eat bigger portions of food.
I am 3 years out and had maintained the exact same weight for more than a year but since having the tummy tuck, I have gained about 15 pounds. That kicked started my running. I cannot afford to gain any more. I started running again 6 weeks ago and have dropped 3 pounds.
I take total responsibility for every pound. I got relaxed. Started snacking on Easter candy and chocolates. Stopped doing my 2x daily 17 flights of stairs and stopped exercising all together. The weight came back very quickly. I am now running again and hope to get back to the stairs soon. For the past 2 weeks, I have been on a no more chocolate fast which I hope to keep up for the duration of 2010.
I plan to have my breast done in July but am almost considering not doing them for fear that I will get lazy again during the no exercise period and gain more weight so my biggest goal has been to try to get the extra 15 pounds off of me so that I can just concentrate on not gaining while not being able to exercise.
I am secretly hoping that some of this weight gain is still from the swelling but I cant take no chances. I paid full price for this surgery and I want to enjoy the full benefits & results of it so I am committed to keeping the weight off.
Just be careful and don't get to complacent. Continue to monitor your eating especially since you wont be able to exercise.

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!
Hahahahhaaa Crack me up - could you imagine having boobs that weighed 10 lbs each?!
I had decent size breasts to start with, just wanted a fuller, more youthful appearance... he put 450 ccs in a 375 cc implant (something to do with overfilling a smaller implant gives a certain shape) - no idea, but like I may have mentioned, I snuck a quick peek and DANG, I can't wait to see the final result. I'll never had a night without a date, lol (teasing).
I just googled it and it looks like 450 ccs weighs just under a 1lb, so say - 2 lbs of implant, but I believe they cut off a few lbs of skin and lipoed out a few more lbs of fat from my flanks. I hoping to at least break even. Geeeezzz, I just weighed again and that 22 lbs is only 23.5 lbs.
Gross, but I haven't gone #2 in a week either, nervves and narcotics, not a good combo for a healthy bowle movement.
I guess only time will tell!
Hugs,
Kristen
