Has anyone had a tummy tuck revision done cause your stomach wasn't flat enough?

My doctor was going to do an anchor cut but thought he could get me flat enough without it. I am now 4 months out and am unhappy with the amount of fat/skin I still have on my upper abdomen and even some on the lower abdomen. When I'm standing up straight it looks fine but when I sit or lean over I can grab a ton of fat/skin. I hate that I still have a muffin top. I had a tummy tuck to not have a muffin top. I had a second surgery done 5 weeks ago to do my breast lift and the back side of my lower body lift done. He did a little lipo in my stomach to try to get it a bit flatter but he clearly didn't take enough off. I really don't want more surgery but I really want a flat stomach. I just don't know what to do. I'm curious to know what the recovery would be like since it would be all skin and no muscle repair. I'd love to hear any experiences with this. Thanks!!

It's not unusual for skin to loosen up some over time. Our skin just isn't the same as non-WLS patients or those who were never extremely overweight. Even some skinny people have a little roll when they sit down so part of that is normal. That said I did have an anchor cut with my LBL and had a revision to the anchor incision above the belly button. There was still a little loose skin so they tightened up some. It's been 3 months and I can still squeeze a little bit of it when I sit but nothing like before. It will never be tight as a board and I don't expect it to be. There was really no pain with my revision. I never even thought about it since I was focused on my other surgical sites. I knew after my LBL that it would need to be tightened so we knew all along that the plan was to tighten it up during stage 2.

If you think the excess skin is excessive and not just your normal baby roll when you sit then I'd discuss a revision plan with your surgeon. Some people can get the flat tummy without the anchor cut but you just can't be certain until it's all said and done.

Good luck!

I am also going to have a bit more skin removed from the area above my belly button in the late summer/early fall. Because I had my breasts done at the same time as my anchor cut TT (and WLS scar revision), the doctor showed me how he really COULDN'T remove as much skin as he would have liked without the breast lift, because the incisions needed would have interfered with one another and possibly caused problems with the healing of my breast lift scars. The revision (for my situation) will be under local anesthetic and he said "come in on Friday afternoon, back to work Monday morning". It also will be done free of charge.

He wants to wait until that time to allow for most if not all of the TT swelling to be gone.

HTH and good luck. I say if you are dissatisfied then ask to have it fixed. After all, these aren't cheap procedures and if you are like me you paid out of pocket so you want to get what you paid for.
