Freaking Out!!
Ok I have surgery on Thursday and I am really starting to freak out. I'm having tons of anxiety over this. Is this normal? I'm having a full tummy tuck and breash lift reduction. I don't know why I'm freaking out so badly this time around. I've had lots of surgeries in the past, but I've never paid anyone so much money out of pocket before I wonder if this is why the freak out. For all of you believers out there please pray for me and my sanity and for a great surgery with a great outcome. Thank you in advance.

Congratulations - you're normal.
I purposefully kept myself completely occupied up until the day before surgery. So much so that on the way to the hospital, I cried because I was so nervous. This wasn't my first surgery either.
For me it was more about "what if I go through all this and it's still not what I expect?" Once I saw the results the next morning, I was completely elated.
From now until Thursday, find ways to keep yourself busy.

Yeah I will be trying to keep myself busy today and tomorrow. I will be preparing meals to freeze since I'm the only one who cooks in this house. So today it's shopping for food and laundry and tomorrow preparing food for the freezer and getting ready for Thursday.
It's silly but I think I'm more afraid of not waking up after surgery I know that this can happen but it's very rare and I've had probably 14 operations in the past where I was under general, so I'm not really sure why I'm so afraid this time around.
As for pain meds, my Dr. gave me demerol with phenergan because most of the pain meds cause me such stomach pains that it's not worth taking. I hope demerol will help with the pain. Has anyone else ever taken demerol for pain control after surgery and does it work? If anything I just hope it helps keep me asleep for a couple days after surgery. I know pain meds can cause you to become constipated, what should I take so that doesn't happen and I should I start taking it before surgery or after surgery?
Thanks again for your responses.
