Looking for people that have had a Panniculectomy
Hello,
Hope your day is going good. My PS is Dr. Thomas Southern. He is located right behind Methodist Hosp. I highly recommend him. I just think that he is wonderful. Bedside manner is awesome and he is very knowledgeable and detailed in explaining things. He does not get mad or upset over questions either.
And his office staff are the best I have ever had contact with. I have seen a lot of docs and dealt with staff and they are just totally AWESOME. Very helpful and willing to go the distance to assist you in every way.
If you have anymore questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, but do it in a message rather then here, cause I don't frequent the boards much. Don't have too much time.

The beauty of a woman is not seen through what she wears. It is seen through how she carries herself and the way she doesn’t allow herself to settle. Don’t ever let anyone take for granted the beauty that is within you. Stand firm and know that you’re a wonderful person. Always remember your value and respect yourself. I’m so blessed to have you in my life. Sometimes we all need to be reminded how special we really are!

I sure did. Dr. Thomas Southern. His office is located right behind Methodist hosp down town. He is great. I would do it over a hundred times again. I am very determined and he finds that odd, I think. But, he got over it. If you would like his number PM me and I will give it to you and you can tell him that I sent you. At least go for the consult. I do not think that you will be disappointed. His staff is wonderful. I got my approval from insurance in 3 days, the first submittal. Good luck, if you have any other questions let me know.

I had a panni removal and hernia repair done at the same time back in February. They removed about 20 lbs of my ugly hanging belly. My upper stomach still protrudes a bit, but I am sure I can lose that with diet and exercise. (hopefully!) I woke up from my surgery already wearing a binder. You can buy the binders at Wal-Mart, CVS, or any pharmacy. You may want to ask your surgeon what size to get though.
As far as pain, sometimes it is painful, sometimes it isn't. However, the pain I still feel, (I am 3 months post op) I don't really know if it is from my panni or hernia repair. I have no belly button. My hernia was near my belly button, so they cut just above it and removed everything below. It is so much better to wearing clothes, however I am still plus sized. I don't have that big hanging belly anymore, which makes me feel more normal when I go out in public and stuff, but now I am self cautious about my big legs, butt, and arms. (then again.....big butts are actually in style now-a-days! )
Your pants may be looser once you have your panni. I know mine are. I can probably go down one, (maybe two if I am daring) pant sizes, however, as I mentioned I still have my hips, thighs and butt. But it is great not having that enormous belly!
I wish you luck and will keep you in my prayers. Take care and God bless.

Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? I say, what difference does it make--I paid for a full glass,so either way I am getting jipped!!!
Wow 20lbs is alot of skin and Ibet you feel soooo much better nowand have so much more confidence...Congrats, do you have any pics? I am documenting mine and have posted pics of me now on TummyTuckTalk.ning.com which is the best site to be on when going through this or had gone through it, you get so much support and advice...I am so anxious to have this surgery and seems like its taking forever to get here...
No, I really don't have any pics, at least not any good ones. I also don't have the technology to put pics online. Yes, I feel much better, but it does still hurt from time to time. Recovery is long.......at least it is for me. It may be different for you. I was anxious too, but now, I love going through my closet and putting on last years clothes! They look so much better on me now! I wish you luck and give you prayers and blessings. Take care and God bless.

GOOD LUCK with your surgery.
I had surgery on 4/29...back to work this week. Had the drains out at 10 days. Wearing binder 24/7 for the first two weeks, now just during the day. I switched out of the binder and into a compression garment. Life is much easier and it is more comfortable and worth the expense. I had a hernia repaired at the same time. My stomach is flat....the mons is wonderful....a little excess around the middle, but I am content with that. Planning on having the arms done...that is more important to me.
I am adjusting to the new me! Not having the panni has been an adjustment in body image for me. They removed 7+ pounds of skin. Everyone's experience and tolerance of pain is different, but just remember....the attitude and outlook that you go into the experience will determine the experience. Take time to identify your expectations and be sure they match the expectations your PS has. Good luck.
