Need ideas
Hello my name is Kathleen and this is my first time posting on the plastic surgery forum. I had gastric bypass surgery on October 29th, 2008 and I have lost 154.4 lbs. I would like to lose another 29.6 more lbs before I get to the journey in the road of plastic surgery.
My medical insurance is Medicare and I am already awear that they will not pay for anything and everything I want done.
The top three things I would like do are my inner thighs, my tummy, and my breasts. I am think that it would run me about $25,000 to $30,000
It would take me 10 years are more to even save and come up with that kind of money.
I am looking for ways to raise money to pay for plastic surgery.
So far I came up with the following ideas:
Getting 1000 people to donate $30 to = $30,000
Getting some sponsors by writing letters of support.
Placing and add in the newspaper
Using the internet by raising money (like maybe facebook?)
If anyone out there knows of some ideas to help me it would be so much appreciate. I just want to compete my journey as I don't need to be reminded as to where I have been.
Have day to you all.

I suggest you go for a consultation because I don't think your estimate is necessarily on target; when you bundle procedures you often get a reduced rate.
I recent had two of the three you mentioned with a private doctor at his surgery center, plus other procedures, and my cost was $13,500. The procedures I had done were tummy tuck, liposuction, scar revision and breast lift. Also, residency programs and overseas often are even cheaper options as well.
Keep researching and good luck.

Ya - I can't believe your list of suggestions only included begging other people to pay for it?? Wow.
When I had surgery, I started saving $100 a paycheque. It hurt the first few pay's, but eventually I got used to the new "lower" amount. I also looked for opportunities to make extra money by taking on a second job here and there. Saved up $9K this year already doing that!!
I'm telling you, I'll feel a lot happier looking at my new boobies and tummy in the mirror, knowing that I worked hard to pay for it myself, and not that I took a handout.
I have to say, if you have 1000 friends who'd just give you $30 - you're a better friend than me.

You might look into one of the Resident Training programs. And while it may indeed be a long shot, I would not give up so easily on Medicare. If you are having severe issues with the skin you might have a shot. The trick will be finding a plastic surgeon who will take medicare. But you need to be sure you have the skin issues well documented.
Many have taken second jobs, saved, and even mortgaged their homes in order to get plastics.
