Loss Due To Plastics

I have lots of work to be done,  LBL, legs (will need past the knees), arms, breast lift + implants (to get rid of the tube sock look).  With all that work to be done, how much skin/tissue did they take off pound wise.  I'm 5'10" and currently 185-189lbs down from 350ish at my top weight.  Plastic surgeons x 2 estimate 20-25lbs of skin/tissue off my body with all procedures done and recommend not losing anymore weight at this time.  That said, what I've seen/heard here is not that much comes off?  I really want to be 165 prior to plastics but am being told that is kind of low.  Input would be much appreciated.

I had 3 procedures done at the same time (inner thighs w/incisions to the knees, arms and upper back)  and the total weight for all was right at 6 lbs.    I'm 9 weeks out and still swelling so I don't really rely on the scales right now.  20-25 lbs sounds really high, I've heard that skin and tissue really don't weigh as much as we think.

I would trust the surgeon's judgment - they do this all the time so they have a pretty good gage on how much they will be taking off. I am starting my first round of plastics - breast and arms in a couple weeks and was also told not to lose any more weight. My surgeon told me that she has seen lots of folks who will lose 100% again of the amount she takes off by the 6 week follow-up (take off 20lbs of skin/fat and lose 40lbs by 6 week follow-up) - apparently something to do with change in body composition and increased need for nutrients to heal.

Good Luck!

I want to give you some advice.  I havent had any surgeries, but be careful of what you expect in weight loss.  I had a friend who thought she'd lose a lot after her plastic surgeries, but she only lost 6lbs.

I am 5'10 and weigh 160 lbs. All three plastic surgeons I spoke with estimated that they would remove between 7-10lbs when I do my bl/reduction, arm lift, and tummy tuck. All 3 told me not to lose any more weight and that I could actually stand to gain 10-15lbs based on my height and body frame. I think a lot depends on your body frame, bone density, muscle mass. I know that 160lbs on me looks very different when compared to my co-worker who is the same height and weight. Most people guess that I weigh about 140lbs and are surprised when I tell them I weigh 160lbs. My pcp told me that based on my last DEXA scan my bones are denser than the average female of the same age and weight and that I carry more lean muscle mass than the average woman. She attributes this partially to genetics, I am half Polynesian. I know that at 140-150 lbs I look gaunt and I don't like it. I am waiting til after plastics to add more muscle mass, I would like to weigh 175-180lbs which is where I am comfortable.

My surgeon told me that with each surgery I have, he estimated maybe about 7 lbs.  So a total of maybe 14 or 15 lbs.  I'm getting implants and one of my Weigh****cher receptionists told me women who get implants usually show a gain of 4 lbs.

People are surprised that I'm 160; they think I actually weight less.

Listen to your doctors, they do this a lot and they have assessed your body.

I had about 10 pounds removed after my LBL and 4 pounds when I had my brachioplasty. I have seen a few people that that have had a 15 pound panni so it is not unheard of. As everyone has mentioned your dr really is the one to give you a better idea of what to expect. I know my drs were pretty accurate when they estimated how much they thought I had before surgery.

I agree, if you have a large panni then it can weigh 15 - 25 pounds just by itself. I'm at the really skinny end - my BMI is around 20 - and my PS said I would only lose a pound or two at the most because I don't have any fat left and skin doesn't weigh much. Plus he was keeping the underlying tissue for butt auto-augmentation. Well even with all that I dropped 4.5 pounds. Probably a couple to skin, and the rest because I couldn't eat much the first week.

The PS who did my panni estimated it would be 10 pounds.  It was a little over 6.

My bat wings were so big, though, that I lost just under 2 pounds with my brachioplasty when I had that done a year later!
