No question is too dumb to ask...

I know that with plastics, it's a very touchy subject with insurance.  A friend of mine recently got denied a panniculectomy, then appealed it and is now scheduled for surgery in the early fall.

I am wondering if those who desire a breast lift/reduction/augmentation... do you go through the same criteria as to providing proof that it is medically necessary and not for cosmetic purposes?

What has been your experience.

Thanks in advance for the info.

I recently got the insurance to cover a panniculectomy. I went to 4 different consults and they all told me the same thing about a breast lift/reduction.  They said most insurance companies require that 300mL be removed from both breasts. If you are like me and it is mostly skin the insurance will not cover it. Look into your insurance policy

Thanks for the info. I will surely pass it along.  When is your panni scheduled to be done? I am awaiting word on mine.

Blessings,

Nina
