CAT product info for hair...
Someone on another post wanted more info on the product I have been using after my hair became thinner... It is by REDKEN and it is a small blue spray bottle. It says "extreme" then CAT under it....."protein reconstructing treatment for distressed hair" After you shampoo, you squeeze the eztra water out of your hair, then spray the CAT evenly over all of your haor and then leave it on for 3-5 minutes then rinse. I usualyy leave it on for 5 minutes and I lather and shave and stuff. It has really helped my hair. I also use hot oil treatments once a week and I have found that along with the hair thinning, it was sort of dead..dry and brittle. I have a friend who is african american adn she told me about a product called cholestoral..it is in a tub and it is pink adn I bought it at walmart for about 6 dollars..I use that too adn it makes my hair so silky and soft! The Redkin CAT you ahve to buy at a beauty supply store I bought mine at one called Sally's. I also bought the Redkin shampoo asn conditioner..it was in a maroon bottle and I think it was was purposfully for dry, damaged hair...good lucka dn hope this helps! Monica
I have been a hairstylist for 20 years and have a lot of experience with all the products you mentioned. The Redken Cat line is an awesome product, more geared towards helping repair distressed and damaged hair and helps add some elasticity, doesn't really promote growth but helps stop breakage in damaged hair. I am surprised that you bought Redken at Sally's, it is usually only sold at salons and professional supply houses, sometimes it makes its way into drug stores but is not guaranteed unless bought from a licensed salon. Cholesterol has been around for ages and ages, it along with hot oil treatments basically just coat down the hair making it feel softer for a short time but as the hair gets washed the coating of oil washes back off and you are right back where you started, the molecules in oil are too large to penetrate into the hair and just coat over the top of the hair shaft. Nioxen is a professional line designed to promote hair growth and stop hair loss. I am a cancer survivor and I swear by it, it can be pricey but it is worth it's weight in gold. I just had my rny 3 weeks ago but started using the Nioxen again months ago to prepare, I also use Redken extreme. Be careful with the Cat treatment, it is protein, too much protein makes the hair brittle, you should not be using this every time you shampoo.
That's a good price for the Nioxen at Costco, the only thing is like I mentioned before, any professional product purchased anywhere except in a salon is not guaranteed, it is product diversion, the company's that make the products try to fight diversion but you see it in drug stores and places like Costco sometimes, whatever distributor that is selling to these places is not supposed to and when they catch them they pull their distributors license, they are usually old packaging or discontinued products when you find them places outside the salon, usually there nothing really wrong with them unless they are a recall or expired products. With Nioxen you really need to use the whole system, the shampoo the conditioner and the scalp boost that you spray on near the scalp after you get out of the shower on towel dried hair, the scalp boost is key because it stimulates the follicles. Plus taking Bioten daily along with your other vitamins really helps to promote healthy hair and nail growth. I take Bioten from Bariatric Advantage, it is in a capsule ,but a very small one, you can buy it at Walmart even but the capsules are bigger.
