What position did they tell you to sleep in after your panni removal? I would like to know so I can make the necessary changes to my bed.

Hi Dawn, They didn;t really tell me but I have a sofa with 2 recliners on it and I JUST started sleeping in my bed 2 nights ago and my surgery was 2 weeks ago today.  Even in bed what I hav been soing is sort of surrounding myself with pillows and then putting one under my knees to bend my knees.  The skin is pulled taunght and the incision that comes around the thigh was pulling when I keep my leg straight out.  Hope this helps!  Good luck, when is your surgery?  Monica

I had TT and I was told to sleep on my back for 3 weeks...boy, was that hard to do.  They told me it was better for the healing and recovery.  Best of luck!  I'm sure you'll be really happy with the results.  It's been wonderful for me.

Hi, I had my panni done on mon may 03. i slept in the hospital bed the first 2 nights. the third night in my bed. i got new fluffy pillows and just laid as flat as i could in bed with a pillow under my knees. they do tell you to put a pillow under your knees. it helps for circulation/no blood clots in the legs. i can sleep flat now, but, still put a pillow under my knees. all my best to you.

I just had my pre-op today and the best sleeping position was one of my questions I asked.  Mine recommends a 30 degree angle.  He said the best way to achieve that is either with a recliner or by putting pillows under my head and back to elevate my top half and under my knees/calves.

We have a sectional sofa with two ends that recline so I'll be in one and DH will be in the other for a couple weeks.

Can you call your surgeon to confirm with him/her?

You're making your DH sleep on the couch with you??    That's love!!!

When I had my sleeve, I used my recliner.  Alone!  My DH was NOT giving up our nice bed!  lol

Nah, I don't make him do anything.  I travel for work and when I'm gone during the week, he falls asleep on the couch anyway.  The cat has our bed all to himself during the week.

I slept in a lift chair for a couple of weeks and then slept in my bed at a slight incline with pillows on my back. I slowly moved to my regular side position but at bits at a time. You'll know when you can start attempting to sleep in your old position.  It may take a while but you'll get there!
