Wow... free and cheap.  You know its really sad to think you think anything is free.  What is this world coming to?

why is that sad? I have read that insurance helps with some procedures and others say traveling out of the country  is a better option than the US offers, what is sad is that prices are so exaggerated in America that most people can not afford to improve there weight loss results!!

My point is nothing is free.  You may get cheap by leaving the country yes, but you said "extremely cheap or even free."  I'm sure going out of the country is cheaper, but I'm sure its not extremely cheap like going to the dollar store for PS.  Its the "free" comment that really baffles me how you think anything is free.

Insurance does help, but even I have deductibles so its not "free".

There was a post earlier where many people vented about the current system in America allowing medicaid / welfare people to receive plastics when they had to struggle to save up. I think you will find most people on these boards have been saving up and making sacrifices for years in order to afford these procedures so some of them get a little bit annoyed at the "gimme what I want now with minimal effort of my own" kind of mentality. I know you probably did not mean to sound that way. Depending on what you need, if you are self pay, you can expect to pay 5-20K regardless of where you go. Mexico is cheaper if you plan to have multiple procedures at once. Otherwise, it isn't enough of a difference to make up for the 700 or so you will pay for a plane ticket and 100 or so a day for the hotel, etc. PS Most insurance policies exclude PS.

I think it is ridiculous that this is a forum and a place that people can share information, instead people getting, " up in arms" as you said for someone asking for information on how to go about getting to the next stage.  When you need several procedures and are learning that each is over 10,000, looking for advice shouldn't upset anyone, if you don't have any advice to offer, move on.. that's what a forum is for ladies.

Have you started consultations yet?  That's where you should start.  Find out the actual costs and if the surgeon is willing to work with you, what kind of financing options you have.

As previous folks said, unless you get really really really lucky, nothing is free.  There are reduced costs and savings if you want to go out of the country or if you have really good medical insurance.  But for many of us, there's still a lot to pay out of pocket.

For what I'm having done, I'm 100% self pay and each procedure is not over 10K - which I why I recommend you start with consultations to determine the actual costs.  Also keep in mind, that different surgeons will have different recommendations and protocols for how they do things.  My surgeon has a great deal of experience and is also comfortable with my health to go the route we're going.

Regarding wanting to things extremely cheap or even free - there are some things in this world where the saying "you get what you pay for" apply.  I would consider plastic surgery to be one of those things.  You have to look at more than just the dollar amount.  So do thorough research.

WLS and plastic surgery - neither one is absolutely necesssary to improve health.  WLS is a very last resort for many (myself included) and luckily my insurance covered it.  Loose skin, although unsightly and can throw off your self-perception, is completely optional.

Unless you want to go out of the country, I'd add having a consult with a residency program in the nearest largest city in your state. Most residency programs are very reasonable. I have had the best experience with the surgeons I used at Baylor. It's worth considering.

Hi, I don't know where you are located but through what I have known is that any "teaching hospital" will have lower prices for plastic surgery because they are training surgeons in the clinics under the watchful eye of the head surgeon for plastics.  I am scheduled for a lower-body lift on June 16th and I am getting it for $3500.  If I were just getting a TT instead of the lower body lift they would have included a breast lift too all for $3500.  Because the lower body lift is a 6-7 hour surgery, they didn't recommend the breast be done at the same time.  The surgeon quoted me a price of $2500 for my breast for a later date.  Call your local hospitals and ask if they have a PS clinic and speak to them, get your prices and do a little shopping around.  Best of luck!

As far as the best prices, i think this is the best way to go.  You can also take out small medical loans from the various finance companies that are online..do more research on them before you sign with them!
