Need input on having TT and thighplasty at same time.

I had my consult today and really liked the Dr.  We discussed my needs and I left feeling that an anchor TT and thighplasty would be the best way to go.  I would like input in regards to having these two procedures together.  The Dr. will do them together as I am in good health and the surgeries combined will take less than 4.5 hours.  He suggested the anchor cut TT and stated that he didn't think I would need lipo as I don't have much fat.  (will do lipo if needed).  He feels that three weeks off work will be fine though I plan on four just in case.  I have read conflicting info on having these two procedures done at the same time so I am looking for any information.  The Dr. is board certified and the surgery will take place in the hospital.  I also inquired about his experience with bariatric patients and felt comfortable with his experience. The costs were very reasonable at less than 10,000 for both procedures and that includes follow up care.

I talked to two different surgeons and one was going to do a TT and thighplasty at the same time and the 2nd Dr. told me that he wouldn't do those two surgeries together because there will be too much swelling in the vaginal area, making recovery alittle harder on me, but he would do a TT and BL together.  Well the 2nd Dr. I saw has a great reputation from the hospital close by and he is also my mom's surgeon and he will be doing her reconstructive surgery after my surgery.  So I don't know which way is the best way to go, but I do know for myself that the two most troublesome areas on me are my tummy and boobs, so I'm very excited to get those two surgeries done first and maybe with exercise the thighs will get better.

I discussed this with 5 or 6 surgeons and posted the question on "RealSelf.com" overwhelmingly the surgeons recommended NOT doing these two together.  Too much cutting and disruption of blood flow which can lead to real healing issues and bad swelling (worse than normal).
Many procedures can be combined but it seems it is not a good idea to do so with these two.

FYI- I really wanted mine done together but after a lot of conversations and a lot of research I decided to do them separately and am glad I did.

Best wishes!!

My surgeon wouldn't do the TT/LBL & thighs together. I believe he thinks it's too much pulling int he lower area. TT is pulling up and felt the thighs would be kind of working against that. Personally I don't think I would want them done together after having them done separately. I really didn't have a problem w/ my LBL and getting around afterward but I did use my legs and thighs to compensate for a lot that I couldn't do b/c of the TT/LBL.

I believe Dr. L. posted something below about doing these 2 procedures together. I think it was the post about mons area being too open after having a TT.

I had a few consults also and none of the drs I met with recommended doing them together. They would do thighs with arms or breasts but not TT or LBL. I'd go on a couple of more consults and see what other surgeons tell you.

My doctor wouldn't do them together either - he said because your body needs to be in two different positions during the surgery.

All of the above, plus when you draw the inner thigh lift marks and do theTT, the thigh markings shift, making the surgery very difficult to plan.  I ahve done a few where a minimal thigh lift is needed, but for the most part "my last one was my last one."

I might suggest asking your doc for 4 or 5 patients' results after the TT/TL procedure at 6 months out.

Thank you for all the input.  I have scheduled a Consult with Maine Plastic and Hand in Portland to get their suggestions.  I am now wondering if I should even consider doing even one procedure with the 1st Dr. based on his response about being able to do both surgeries together.  He was recommended by my bariatric surgeon who I have the up most respect for .  This plastics thing is scary!

Plastic surgery is very scary, and finding the right Dr. is even scarier. The 2nd Dr. I saw wanted to do the thighs and TT at the same time but not the breast lift.  And even though I heard good things about the 2nd Dr I didn't hear it from anyone who actually had any kind of procedures done. Now on the other hand the 1st Dr. I saw has a great reputation from patients and the hospital staff and all of who I've talked to said that they would have him do their surgeries and that he is great with a great bedside manner.  He is also my Mom's Dr and she just went through a mastectomy from breast cancer and he has already started her reconstructive surgery. He is a very compassionate Dr and seems to care deeply about his patients and the office staff knows exactly who I am when I call and treat me with a lot of respect too.  I hope that you find the right Dr. with the right price who is just perfect for you and what you want to get done. Good luck

I think it's important to realize that my opinion of doing TT and TL together applies to MOST patients.  The key is understanding the individual patients anatomy, and all of us are different.

Patient Claudine on Big Medicine had LBL and TL by me !  She had minimal inner thigh excess and a good demarcation between pelvis and thighs.

The most important person to ask is the doctor you select to do the surgery.  Photos or examples of prior work are one good way to insure your results will be what you want !

Happy healing !
