Update on my swelling and lymphatic drainage massage

Hi all....
I had my first lymphatic massage. It was interesting. In addition to do the lymph massage she did something else (forgot what she called it) that is supposed to help get spinal cord and head in balance (sounded good when she described it). Anyhow……I had the lymph massage done. She explained how the lymph system works…was interesting. We talked about a lot of health related stuff…it was a nice conversation.
I think the whole thing felt very good. I’m very relaxed…almost sleepy. I did not come home and pee by brains out….kind of hoped I would but my more realistic/logical side said that was not likely.   I think the biggest thing I notice right away is that I do not have that awful TIGHT feeling in my calves, feet and top of my feet. I don’t know if is a coincidence or if things are flowing a little easier and therefore I feel some relief.    Of course I was told to drink lots of water…that will make pee too. An odd side benefit is I was able to pooh when I got home…I think she loosened that up too!! (she did say it could happen)   I’ll go back next week and for sure the following week…I’ll re-evaluate at that time and decide if I want to do more. They offer a lot of interesting services…like different facials, salt or sugar body scrubs, hypnosis, acupuncture, and more….I may treat myself to some other things. I’ve always been into “alternative healing" methods so I find this stuff interesting.   So that’s the wrap on my first lymph drainage massage…..hopefully it just gets better and better.   Hope everyone else is healing nicely or getting excited about an upcoming procedure.

Glad that it worked so well for you!  I'm hoping my surgeon recommends lymphatic massages for me as I love massages.

Did you go to a regular massage spa or something more physical therapy oriented?  Although I'm guessing since they offer facials it's more spa oriented.

And I'm getting very excited about my upcoming procedures.

Have a great day.

This is actually an "alternative healing" center......They offer a lot of interesting things....I may try more.  :-)

Best wishes on your upcoming procedures.

The area that was the most noticeable to me after my massages was my abdomen. I guess because the swelling was more obvious there. My skin wasn't as tight afterwards. Be sure you drink plenty of water because you can feel really tired or get a headache afterwards. When I went for my first massage after this last surgery I got SOOOO sick. By that night I felt like I had gotten the flu. My body ached and I was so tired and then my head started feeling congested. By Thursday of that week I had lost my voice and was coughing like crazy. When I went back I told my therapist that I don't know what she did but she must have released some toxins that were dormant and they took off. She said that can happen sometimes and that it may have been too soon to start. It sucked too because I was getting my energy back that third week and I was ready to go back to work on week 4 but I had to call my boss and told her I had had a setback.  I felt  like I had just had surgery all over again!  Anyhow, I now have a new therapist since my insurance is covering them and I told her my flu story. She said that when she gives her husband a regular massage that he has to drink like a gallon of water afterwards because he gets a headache and feels sick for a couple of days too. Wierd, huh?

Glad you noticed a little improvement!

Hi Melissa,
The therapist did tell me to drink plenty of water...I don't think I drank any more than I usually do so I'm going to try to do so today (I normally drink 5-6 16oz glasses).   She told me she wanted to do a half session the first time just because we were not sure how my body would react.

I did feel really tired yesterday afternoon/early evening....I wasn't sure if I was super relaxed or just tired...lol

I'm glad I didn't feel sick afterward.

I just called them to see if I can get in again on Thursday or Friday morning.  I have another appointment next week but I kind of want to keep the benefit going by doing another session this week but I'll let the therapist decide if it is better to wait or not.

Anyhow, as always I thank you for sharing your experience and insight!!

Lymphatic massage isn't deep tissue. It's a very lite deliberate touch to get the lymph system naturally working again. If there was a ton of pressure they did it wrong.

My therapist gives water after. She's great.

Was the other thing called cranial sacral therapy?
