Hi I was wondering if anyone has or had Anthem BC (Premera FEP 112 plan) pay for their panni or tummy tuck? Or any type of plastic surgery? I am a year and a half out and lost 127 pounds. I have been stable (give or take 5 pounds) for 6 months now and want to get my tummy done. I called and was told if it is medically necessary they would cover. Just want to get other peoples stories so I am prepared. Thanks

I have FED BC/BS FEP 112 and live in Michigan.  I've pretty much figured out that the FEP 112 benefits seem to align with the BCBS benefits of the state.

I lived in VA and found the dental benefits were better than here in Michigan - go figure.

BUT - it did pay for my panni here in MI and my WLS in VA.  The requirements for WLS in VA and MI were very different...  with the same insurance.

My bariatric surgeon is in VA, and when I talked to him about plastics and insurance paying for it he said "yea, not likely".

I can't give you an answer if Anthem will pay, but they were the ones with the better dental for me.  Find a PS who takes the insurance, get a consult and see what kind of experience they've had in getting coverage.

Good luck!
