I have a list of Residency programs all over the country and I am happy to send it to anyone who is interested. When someone asks for information I will generally just copy the list from the state someone lives in and the bordering states. Hence you will notice this list was for someone from Maryland. The complete list is pretty long.
The list I have is a list of academic programs. It is not a list of programs offering a reduced cost option. While many of these programs do offer this, it is my understanding that not all programs offer a reduced cost option. But I think the list at least gives one a place to start looking.
If you have used a resident training program that offered a reduced cost option -- please let me know and I will make a note on my list to reflect that. I already know about a couple --
Baylor
University of South Florida
KU
University of Chicago
While I have not had my surgeries through a Resident Training Program -- residents have assisted with all of my surgeries and provided the bulk of my bedside care while in the hospital. I have been very pleased with all of the residents who have provided my care. I, too think, that programs such as this offer a wonderful opportunity to get the post bariatric reconstructive surgery that we need at a price that is affordable without compromising the care we receive. In most cases the residents are operating at highly regarded hospitals and under the supervison of well respected surgeons with great credentials and years of experience.
