ITCHING!!!!

Hey everyone..I had my panni done monday and hav been fine, but since yesterday my skin is itching something awful!!  I'm sure it is part of the healinf, but any ideas?  Thanks, Monica

If you still have steri-strips across the incision, I would start by removing them. Get in the shower if you can and soap them up really well...that will help you get them off. Then use an OTC anti-itch/antibiotic (combined) cream.

Itching is a sign of healing. My are itching TERRIBLY still at 4 weeks!!

I used benadryl cream and it really helped.  But if you are taking pain meds or antibiotics you could be having an allergic reaction and in that case you need to speak with your surgeon.  Yo may need to take benadryl orally.  Pain meds make me itch like crazy.  I have a lot of medication allergies and while I sometimes react immediately with others it takes a little while for the med to build up in my system enough to set off the reaction.

Thanks both of you..I have that glue instead of steristrips and the rash is under the incision,mostly on my thighs.  I did shower this AM and then put some hydrocortisone cream and last night took benadryl.  Thanks, I have my 1st F/U appointment with my PS tomorrow!  Thanks monica
