How do I find a good residency program?

I am going to need extensive surgeries further down the line.  Thigh lift, mons, tummy tuck, upper body lift, breast lift, arm lift.... basically everything.

I wont be able to afford to get it done unless I use a residency program, and I want to make sure I use a program that has a focus on post-bariatric patients.  I am having a hard time finding this info online.

I would love to go to Dr. L and use the Baylor program, but I don't want to travel that far for such an extensive surgery.  I'd like to go somewhere nearby.

Have you contacted Johns Hopkins? I'm not sure if they have a residency program or not.

You may have a hard time finding one with a focus on WLS patients. Word of mouth is one way. I would call and ask. That would be a question at your first visit that should be addressed. I think most of them have no charge for the initial visit.  There are several people in the Missouri forum who are using  KU resident program In Kansas City , KS. After the first person went  word got around that they were very satisfied. I am scheduled for July myself. Prices are defiantly  less. I figured they have the latest training and are supervised so everything should work out ok. Time will tell I guess. I have had my thighs done and the surgeon I used  didn't really impress me with his skills so I decided to use the resident program for my LBL.

I love KU and have used their surgeons for my breast and tummy tuck.  But four weeks ago I had my arms done by a dr that replaced the one I'd use for the prior surgeries.  He was not a resident and I am not pleased with the results.  I was told by him it would have been better if he had lippoed but this option was not even addressed until after the fact.  He said he would correct in 3 months he also mentioned resubmitting the claim to insurance company for authorization.  My concern is if you screwed up why should the insurance company pay for you mess.  So when you have your surgery at KU as for ALL the options.  I don't anyone to have to go thru what I'm going thru because these surgeries are painful.

Let me make it clear KU is a wonderful hospital and they have some great drs.  Just get all the facts and options prior to surgery.

Here is a list of Resident Training programs in states close to you.  There are others in MA, NJ, NY and other states close by.  I have no way of knowing if any of these offer reduced rate surgeries.  If you contact any of these programs and learn whether or not they have reduced rate programs let me know and I can add that information to my list.

Hey Red, Thanks !

You are truly super-duper

I need to link to this post, and will repost the data as a new post.

I need to assemble a list of knowledgeable experts in the field of academics who will agree to be lisited.  Or a visiting professorship that allows an expert surgeon to aid in planning and execution of these cases in various locales.

Lots of ideas, no time !

Sorry so late in getting back to you. That Florida sun plus that Florida tarpon really knocked me out !  Hope that oil stays out of your waters.
