Panniculectomy Friday!!!
Hi Kari, I just had my panni done monday..nothing as bad as I thought. Of coarse, as with everyhting, everytime I would tell someone I know, they ALWAYS new someone who ahd it and it was a horrible experience. I got there at 7:15, went in about 9:30 and rememebr waking up around 3...it was a 2-3 hour surgery. I am very sore and the 2 drains are not as bad as I expected. They come right out above my lady part. The binder is not bad wither. I have been taking 1 1/2 to 2 percocets for the night time adn one every 5 hours or so suring the day to rest. I was sick to my stomach after I got home...I ma making my husband empty my drains...about 2 -3 times a day. I have been sleeping on a recliner couch and this seems to be the most comfortable. i had a panni on monday.......in arounf 11:30 a.m. and in my room aroundng 2:30.p.m. i had 2 drains in for only 24 hours.....i also had compresion hose things on my legs for a day and have rash behind my knees...and came out of the operatiing room with a cut on my eye and pink eye in it and a cancker on my lip and m nose keeps bleeding. i have desolveable tape and stitches. and a binder on.it pulls an tears and stuff and gets stiff,burns too.i was on moreaphine the first night now 2 tylenols 3's twice a day.

Well I am home. Had panni on friday. I will say when i awoke in the recovey room I really regretted what i did. Felt horrible! The day was not good. Had to get up and walk. OUCH!!!!
I started feeling better as the day went on but still very uncomfortable. I do not have a plaster binder. I am wearing some sort of strange crotchless girdle/corset! Kind of rocky-horror picture show-ish. Very stylish. It is nice and tight .
Came home yesterday afternoon. Night was not nearly as bad as i thought. Slept sitting up with pillows. Am on oxycontin and darvon for pain. Two drains in place. took a shower today. stitches dont look bad. belly button moved.
She said that my ab muscles were not that badly separated. she tightened them as much as she needed.
I get strange burning, pulling pains, now and then. But really it is not as bad as I thought (now!) My back urts from not being able to walk fully erect!!
i will answer any questions anyone has about the procedure!!!
