Question for those who had a breast lift and no implants.

Hi,

I had a consult with a plastic surgeon today and after examining me he told me that based on the amount of breast tissue I have left I would most likely end up an A or B cup if I had just a lift without implants. I don't want implants, the reason I am having a breast lift/reduction is that I have exhausted all my other options for dealing with chronic shoulder, back, and neck pain due in part to my breasts.  But I didn't expect that I would end up being an A or B cup. I have had big breasts since I was 13 and I am not sure how I am going to feel about being really small breasted. For those of you who chose to have a lift without implants I have a couple of questions that I hope you all can answer.
1) What bra size were pre-lift and what bra size are you post-lift?

2) Are you happy/content/satisfied with the size of your breasts post op or do you miss being bigger breasted?

Any information, comments, suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
OLe

It all depends on the size you want to end up and how much tissue you will have left after your excess skin is removed. I filled up a C cup really well before my breast lift even though some of it was skin and I am now full B. I was never really big breasted but I was used to filling up a bra. I don't do that too well now. Most of the fullness I have now is towards the bottom of my breast as opposed to the top if that makes sense. Sometimes I wish I had breast implants to give me more fullness on top, not to make be bigger necessarily. But there are more reasons why I don't want them. It's funny but after I had my LBL I had more people ask me if I had a boob job because my breasts looked bigger! I think it was just the 10 pounds of flab that was removed that made my chest look larger. LOL

Thanks for replying. I have always had large breasts. Currently I wear a 32G, granted a lot of it is excess skin but I guess I am still kind of shocked that I will possibly end up an A. It is hard to wrap my mind around that concept.  I was hoping to be a small C or a large B.  I guess I may just have to wait and see how I feel afterwards and if I really hate being so small then I could always consider implants. Maybe in combination with a abdominalplasty I will be okay with it.

Thanks again,
Ole

I would think that you would be larger than an A if you are a 32G now unless there is absolutely very little to no tissue left.  Like you said, you could always add implants if you decide you want more fullness later.

I thought I would be larger than an A too, so it was a shocking when he told me A or small B. I have another consult so I will see what the other surgeon says but it could just be that I am overestimating the amount of breast tissue I have or wishful thinking on my part.
And never in a million years did I ever think that I would have any reason to consider implants but here I am, lol.
He said that I might be okay with it because he would be removing approximately 8-10lbs of skin and fat from my stomach and he said that I actually have a small frame under this skin suit.

Well at least I have some options and I just want to be pain free or at least have less pain so I can get off the pain killers and sleep the night through.

At my largest I was a 46DD or DDD.  Prior to my breast lift I was a 36C after my breast lift I can wear the same bras!  It is just that now the girls are perky.

I love my size and the shape -- ok I love my breasts!  My surgeon does not like to do the lift and implants at the same time.  He had told me he thought I would end up a C but that if I wanted implants later he would do them.  So for me it was not an all or nothing situation.

If it were me I would go for another consult.

Hi!
I was in DDD bras before losing weight and when I was at goal I could pack them into a "full cut" D.  I had a reduction/lift in Nov 2008 and ended up a full C.  Well I continued to lose weight (another 40 lbs) and so I just recently had another lift because the girls were starting to sag a bit....not bad but I figured while I was there I may as well have them lifted a little again....I'm now a full, firm, perky B.  I didn't want to go smaller but it just worked out that way.

Do I miss the giant boobs I've had since I was about 16........NO WAY.
Do I miss the neck, shoulder and back pain.................NO WAY
Do I miss the bra straps digging ditches in my shoulders........NO WAY

Am I glad I did this..........................ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!

From day one after my reduction/lift I said it was the best thing I've ever done for myself!

Best wishes on your decision and journey
Ruth

I was a 38 DD before my LBL and BL.  After surgery I am a 36 D.  So mine didn't change too much, but with the LBL, EVERYONE thinks I got implants.  That is actually the question I get asked the most!  I tell them no, just lifted, but with the stomach flab gone they look MUCH bigger...LOL!

When I went for my consultation the surgeon told me that I may decrease by about half a cup size, so that if I were a small "C", I may become a big "B".

I haven't worn a normal bra yet (still in the compression bra) but I can tell you I am VERY please with the size and perkiness of my breasts. I think I like THEM more than the tummy!!

Maybe get a second opinion??

Thank you all for your input, I really appreciate it!

I am going for another consult with a different surgeon next week and will see what he says. I feel a little bit better today about the whole thing I guess yesterday I was just shocked but after talking it over with my girlfriends and mom I can see that I have options and just need to decide.

I am starting to get really excited about the idea of having small breasts. My girlfriend last night said to me she can't wait for me to have my boobs reduced/lifted and get  through the recovery period so we can do all the things we used to do before my shoulder and neck pain got so bad . I can hardly imagine what it will be like to not have big breasts.

You all have been great about sharing your experiences. I will keep everyone posted on my progress.

Thanks,
Ole
